Job DescriptionSalary: $35.00 to $40.00 Good Pay! Great Benefits! Family Environment!! Jerke Construction is seeking candidates for a Heavy Equipment/Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Technician. Education: High School Diploma, or equivalent required. 2-year vocational training program in Diesel Technology preferred. Experience: 2-year technical degree or high school diploma and several years of comparable maintenance experience. 3+ years of experience working on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems or heavy equipment, commercial motor vehicle and support equipment, some field experience preferred. Class A CDL or B willingness to obtain one within a defined period of time. Pay for this position is $35.00 to $40.00 per hour, depending on experience. Objective: The primary function of the position will be to diagnose and repair heavy construction, commercial motor vehicles (CMV) and support equipment at various job sites or at the maintenance shops. This individual must be flexible and open to possible overtime & outside weather conditions throughout the construction season. This individual must also be able to make timely repairs, provide ongoing maintenance and monitor equipment. Job Environment: This position will require time being spent in the shop and field during the construction season. This role will interact on a day-to-day basis with the Shop Supervisor, Technician Supervisors, Shop Manager, Dispatch, Construction Foremen, Crane Division and Operators. This is a full-time, year-round position. Relationships/Management: The position will interact with all levels of personnel within the company including union and non-union employees, other department managers, support personnel and be able to develop effective rapport with the vendor community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Operate and inspect all types of construction equipment to determine needed repairs., • Discuss equipment problems with supervisor and/or others as needed., • Repair, replace, calibrate, adjust and/or rebuild components., • Test repaired equipment for proper operation by collaborating with a CCO operator., • Inspect, add and/or change fluids and lubricants for all types of equipment, • Check and replace worn parts and perform other routine service and maintenance., • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, motor vehicles and heavy equipment., • Perform necessary welding and fabrication., • Remain current with knowledge of equipment to be serviced., • Assist with ordering parts, materials and supplies needed for repair and maintenance., • Use of electronic maintenance system to create work orders, track labor hours and materials., • Perform related duties as assigned by the Tech Supervisor., • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness while working at job sites and at the shop., • Understand and adhere to all safety regulations., • Understand and adhere to the Personal Protection Equipment requirements., • All other duties as assigned. Skills, Qualifications and Requirements of the Position: • Must be a team player and promote a collaborative work environment., • MN DOT and/or Federal CMV Inspector Certification preferred or willingness to obtain., • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times., • Demonstrated commitment to safety, ethics, and integrity., • Possess strong communication skills and the ability to keep all necessary parties aware of objectives, changes, updates, etc., • Successful candidates will have a positive can-do attitude, be a team player who works well with others, and be a problem solver with a superior work ethic., • The ability to discuss technical aspects of the job effectively with employees at all levels in the company in a professional manner is essential., • Need to be able to handle a variety of tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
