Job Description Aerotek is hiring Machine Operator (Bagger Operator) Shift: 7am - 7pm or 7pm to 7am 3 days on 3 days off Pay: $18.50 Responsibilities • Operate and monitor packaging machinery to fill, weigh, seal, label, and palletize yeast products according to production requirements., • Perform accurate weighing of bags using basic math skills to ensure correct product weight before placing bags on skids., • Conduct visual inspections of products and packaging to confirm quality, correct labeling, and packaging accuracy., • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety protocols, and sanitation procedures at all times., • Complete all required production documentation, packaging records, and related paperwork accurately and on time., • Assist with changeovers on packaging lines, including setting up equipment for different products or bag sizes., • Support basic troubleshooting of packaging machinery and escalate issues to supervision when necessary., • Participate in line sanitation activities, including cleaning equipment and work areas in accordance with food safety standards., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, promptly addressing spills, debris, and potential hazards., • Communicate issues related to product quality, equipment performance, or safety concerns to supervision in a timely manner., • Comply with all safety requirements, including wearing protective shoes and using provided personal protective equipment such as lab coats, hair nets or beard nets, ear plugs, and safety glasses., • Lift and move 50-pound bags repeatedly throughout the shift and stack them safely on pallets., • Work effectively in various packaging rooms and coolers, adapting to different areas of the facility as needed., • Ability to repeatedly lift 50-pound bags and perform heavy lifting for the duration of the shift., • Ability to stand on feet for most of the shift, including in a hot work environment at times., • Previous experience in a food and beverage manufacturing or food production environment., • Experience working in an FDA-regulated environment and understanding of FDA regulations., • Basic mathematical skills to accurately weigh bags and verify correct product weight., • Ability to operate production and packaging equipment, including packaging machines and packaging lines., • Capability to perform general production tasks such as filling, packing, palletizing, and general labor duties., • Willingness and ability to be trained and certified to operate a forklift for future responsibilities., • Ability to comply with food safety and quality rules, including shaving requirements for respirator use and removal of jewelry or piercings that cannot be removed., • Ability to work safely in damp, cool, and strong-odor environments., • Experience as a machine operator, loader, packager, or general production worker in a manufacturing setting., • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety, and sanitation procedures., • Comfort working in FDA-regulated environments with strict rules regarding jewelry, nails, lashes, and personal grooming., • Experience operating or monitoring filling and packaging equipment on production lines., • Strong attention to detail for visual inspections and accurate completion of production documentation., • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding quality, equipment, and safety issues., • Willingness to wear full uniforms and personal protective equipment as required by facility policies. Work Environment This position operates in an FDA-regulated food manufacturing facility with 1st and 2nd shift options of 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m., following a 3-on, 3-off schedule without rotation, with the greatest need on 2nd shift. You may work in various packaging rooms and coolers that remain around 50 degrees year-round, in a damp environment with strong, sour yeast odors throughout the facility. At times, you work in hot conditions and must be comfortable wearing full uniforms as necessary. The environment requires strict adherence to food safety rules, including no jewelry, nails, lashes, or similar items, and compliance with facial hair requirements to support respirator use. Personal protective equipment such as hair nets or beard nets, lab coats, ear plugs, and safety glasses is provided, while steel-toe or composite-toe protective shoes are required and must be supplied by the employee Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
