SUMMARY The Security Officer is an integral part of the AGIF-NVOP organization and will be working primarily with the homeless veteran population. Our Security Officers allow us to accomplish our organization’s mission, which is “to serve the needs of veterans, their families, and other needy individuals of the community”. They are responsible for the 24-hour safety and security of the residential center. The Security Officer is a deterrent to criminal activity around and within the property of the facility by remaining visible and presenting a neat and professional appearance in properly worn uniform. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES NOTE: These job duties are not all-encompassing of the responsibilities and duties (or other terms) that are required of the employee and may change at any time with or without notice. • Ensures the facility security protocols are in place and always adhered to., • Works with residents in an empathetic and understanding manner., • Learns and implements verbal crisis intervention/de-escalation techniques., • Effectively conducts monthly fire and emergency drills and documents drills as required., • Maintains proficiency in the use of all assigned equipment (2-way radio, flashlight, keys, etc.)., • Maintains order and acts to enforce regulations and directives of the Ryan Center pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises., • Greets guests and employees in a professional and welcoming manner and answers phones using professional etiquette., • Answers questions and assists residents and employees., • Patrols the facility on foot every hour., • Monitors closed circuit television systems for unusual activity and any alarms., • Reports safety concerns, security breaches and unusual circumstances both verbally and in writing no later than 60 minutes after the occurrence., • Handles security issues or emergency situations in accordance with training, policies and procedures, and standards., • Responsible for adhering to security/safety training programs., • Attends all meetings and training courses as notified., • Participates in industry specific security/safety training programs to remain current and proficient., • Must maintain any applicable state, county and municipal licensing and permit requirements for Non-Commissioned Security Officers as required by this position., • Must be vigilant to any conditions that require awareness of personal safety and safety of others., • Maintains awareness and understanding with the site-specific operations performance manual., • Documents all site checks within and around the perimeter and effectively communicates with the front desk when they are conducted., • Administers random urinalysis and breathalyzers of residents and documents results in the designated logs., • Conducts initial searches of possessions of all new residents and conducts ongoing searches of all bags, backpacks and other carry-ons on residents reentering the facility., • Maintains a professional appearance and complies with uniform requirements., • Confidentiality of client information, donors, team members and the AGIF-NVOP. Such information is to be disclosed on a need-to-know basis only., • The applicant must have a high school diploma or GED, have had at least 2 years of security experience., • Must have level 2, • The applicant must have no criminal record., • Must be able to use computer to annotate shift updates., • Prior military experience is preferred., • Must have access to reliable transportation, • Must have a current Texas driver’s license at all times, • Must pass drug testing and background check, • Typing, • Computer literate to include working knowledge of Word and Excel, • Good communication to include both verbal and written skills, • Ability to exercise emotional intelligence in sensitive and/or challenging situations, • Verbal de-escalation skills, • Problem solving skills, • Ability to pay attention to detail, • Ability to follow-through on assignments, • $500, company-provided, monthly allowance for:, • Dental insurance, • Health insurance, • Vision insurance, • Base 25K Life insurance (employer paid), • Voluntary Life and AD&D insurance for employee (employee, spouse, and child (ren) (employee paid), • Short term & Long-term disability insurance (employee paid), • Supplemental insurance, • Retirement Program, • 6% Employer matching (after 1 year of employment; 100% vested), • 12 hours (monthly) of PTO (after completed probationary period), • 5% salary increase after completing probationary period, • Cell phone stipend (paid quarterly)
