🪟 Valley Studio — Field Consultant (Contract / Part-Time) San Francisco Valley Studio is a premier to-the-trade interior workroom specializing in custom window coverings, upholstery, furniture, case goods, and soft goods. We partner with top interior designers and deliver exceptional craftsmanship from our Los Angeles production facility. We're looking for a detail-oriented Field Consultant in the San Francisco area to serve as the critical link between our designer clients and our production team. What You'll Do: • Meet with interior designers on-site at residential and commercial projects, • Advise on product options, fabrication details, and installation considerations, • Take highly detailed field measurements and comprehensive site notes, • Translate design intent into precise technical documentation for our LA-based production team, • Serve as a knowledgeable, trusted point of contact for our trade clientele What We're Looking For: • Background in construction, interior design, or custom fabrication, • Strong understanding of window treatments, soft furnishings, or architectural detailing, • Exceptional interpersonal skills — you're comfortable speaking the language of high-end design, • Meticulous attention to detail, especially when measuring and documenting, • Reliable, self-directed, and comfortable working independently in the field, • Based in or around San Francisco with flexibility to travel to client sites This is a contract or part-time role with flexible scheduling. Job Summary The Spec Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the design team by developing accurate, detailed, and order-ready furniture specifications, primarily focused on ancillary products. This role acts as a strategic partner to designers, ensuring selections are aligned, documented, and executable. You will help streamline the design-to-order process by managing quote requests, finish selections and specification development allowing designers to remain focused on high-value, billable work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Partner closely with the design team to support ancillary furniture specification and order-ready documentation, • Prepare complete, accurate, and order-ready specifications aligned with project requirements, • Request, manage and coordinate vendor quote requests and share with internal teams, • Utilize tools such as Miro boards to organize and finalize furniture and finish selections, • Support finish selection processes, including ordering and tracking finish samples, • Ensure all specifications align with pricing, lead times, and project constraints, • Track and organize specification data to support efficient order entry, • Maintain clear, timely communication with designers, sales, and project managers, • Identify opportunities to improve workflows and build scalable processes, • Own delivery of assigned tasks and deadlines with a high level of accuracy and accountability, • Preparing spec check packages (first round and final round packages), • Audit or request audit specifications and revise for completeness and accuracy prior to order entry. Lead Designer to review final accuracy of product type, quantity and finish. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location and internal equity.

Act as a communication support liaison between clients, the design team, and the customer service department to ensure information flows efficiently. Assist during installations at job sites, helping ensure projects are executed according to plan and supporting installers when needed. Prepare floorplans, elevations, and basic drawings under the supervision of senior designers and architects. Assist with systems drawings using brand-specific design software. Help prepare graphic presentations and visual materials for client meetings and showroom presentations. Support the design team with furniture and finish selections, product research, and project documentation. Visit job sites when needed to take measurements and assist with project documentation. Maintain company standards and design presentation quality across all deliverables. Provide general administrative and design support to the design and sales teams as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design, or a related field preferred. 0–2 years of professional experience in interior design, architecture, furniture design, or a related field. Internship or showroom experience is a plus. Skills Basic to intermediate proficiency in design software (AutoCAD) Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with designers, sales consultants, and clients. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Professional demeanor when interacting with clients, vendors, and team members. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
