American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Charlotte, North Carolina. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 05/18/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: May 18, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Work setting is a 207-bed hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designation, but no trauma designation and not a teaching facility, • Assigned to the 4N Cardiac Medical Telemetry unit, a 29-bed unit focused on cardiac and stroke patients, • Common diagnoses include congestive heart failure, pulmonary edema, hypertension, stroke, cardiac arrhythmias, endocarditis, and initial cardiac workup for chest pain and/or shortness of breath, • Cardiac stress test prep is a routine part of patient care on this unit, • RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5–6, with critical surge ratios of 1:7–8, • 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week, • Every other weekend rotation required, • No on-call responsibilities, • Floating is required to all units within scope at the home facility, as well as to other facilities within the assigned region — candidates who are not agreeable to multi-facility floating should not apply, • EMR is Epic; Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors are used on the unitRequirements, • Active NC or compact RN license required, • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, • Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year, • Strong general Med/Tele skillset required, including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, Flexiseals, Foley insertion/management, PCA pumps), • Experience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IVF required, • Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted, • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration, • At least one professional reference dated within the past year is required, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RNAdditional Information, • Home unit assignment is made on the first day of orientation, • Orientation includes a New Employee Orientation (NEO) session plus 2 days of departmental orientation, • Unit support staff include CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team (11 AM–7 PM and 11 PM–7 AM), Resource Nurse (as staffing allows), Respiratory Therapy (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), and Intensivist coverage, • Telemetry monitoring is not provided by a dedicated tech on this unit, • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays, • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; contracted hours must still be met, • Schedule is posted on a 6-week cycle, • Required scrub color is navy, • Parking is free, • First-time travelers are not preferred but may be considered With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
