American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Clinic DOU - Direct Observation Unit for a travel nursing job in Charleston, South Carolina. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: DOU - Direct Observation Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: ASAP, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Position is in a six-bay, 23-hour observation unit within a surgery center PACU at a large clinic, • Patient population includes orthopedics (total joints, arthroscopy, hand, shoulder, elbow cases), interventional radiology, and GI procedures (upper and lower scopes), • Night shift schedule: three 12-hour shifts, 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM, Monday-Thursday, with no Fridays, weekends, or holidays required, • Staffing model includes two RNs and one PCT, with the possibility of a one RN, one PCT model on some nights, • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 expected, up to 1:6 max, • Possible floating to another observation unit or being called off during low census, • Uses Epic EMR, • Works closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and OR nurses in a fast-paced environment, • Building security present overnight and moves inside after clinic closes at 8:00 PM, • Collaborates with a small core team each night, • Must complete required modules pre-start, averaging about 4 hours, • Emergency response team assignments possible during hurricane season (June-November), • Requests for block scheduling require manager approval and depend on unit needs, • Any requested time off (RTO) must be submitted in advance; more than 7 days or holiday RTO requires facility approval\n \n Requirements\n, • Active SC or Compact RN license required (license must be issued and active prior to start), • Minimum two years of RN experience required, • Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required, • Experience with surgical observation or similar fast-paced post-op environments preferred, • First-time travelers are accepted for this position, • Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius to qualify as travelers; locals are considered case-by-case at a local rate, • Applicants must provide a Social Security Number and valid Driver's License for consideration, • Previous permanent staff (including PRN) at the institution must be separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
