Job Title and Reporting: Assistant Store Lead, reporting to the Store Lead Annual Base Salary: Starting at $17.30 per hour + up to $7.00 hour in tips FLSA Status: Hourly / Nonexempt / Full-Time Location: OR065--Halsey 122nd - 1680 NE 122nd Ave, Portland, OR 97230 Position Overview. As the Assistant Store Lead, you are self-driven, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and will consistently provide servant leadership to all team members. You thrive in established and new environments and lead the team by example by assisting the Store Lead in maintaining a positive environment, which provides fast, efficient, and friendly service. You will assist in training and mentoring team members in customer service, product knowledge and education, safe work practices, and a demonstrated commitment to Black Rock Coffee Bar’s values, policies, and procedures. Services and Duties. As the Assistant Store Lead, you will support daily store operations and leadership with a focus on Sales, People, Operations, and Cost Balancing (SPOC). Your essential duties and key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Leads, communicates, and champions Black Rock Coffee Bar values, policies, and procedures., • Models exceptional customer service for the team., • Establishes effective, positive communication among Team Members through appropriate channels., • Serves as the active leader on shift, maintains adequate coverage, arranges coverage for unexpected absences, and ensures meal and rest periods are provided per state requirements., • Assists in planning and executing sales promotions as assigned by Marketing., • Supports successful store operations with focus on SPOC outcomes., • Promotes safe work practices, reports incidents and accidents promptly to the Store Lead, and follows required procedures., • Works a total of 40 hours per week, dedicating at least 32 hours per week to on-bar duties., • Supports the Store Lead in hiring, onboarding, and training processes., • Completes off-bar leadership tasks as assigned, including approving timecards, cash management, and other checklist items., • Troubleshoots equipment issues, addresses Team Member concerns, and resolves operational issues in real time., • Assists with inventory management, including orders, counts, and product runs; submits mileage reimbursement in accordance with Company policy., • Attends leadership meetings as scheduled, including biweekly or monthly sessions based on regional requirements., • Black Rock Coffee Bar reserves the right to add or modify duties and responsibilities at any time and at its sole discretion. Additional Barista Duties. In this hourly, non-exempt role, you will also perform on-bar responsibilities. Your additional Barista duties include, but are not limited to: • Immediately and warmly welcomes customers and Team Members, ensuring a positive, welcoming, and engaging environment., • Abides by service speed requirements without compromising beverage quality or customer service, including third-party orders., • Prepares and serves coffee and coffee-less beverages and food items using retail equipment, such as espresso machines and convection ovens., • Maintains clean and organized work and customer areas, following health and safety guidelines., • Promotes new coffee offerings and seasonal specials to enhance brand awareness and sales., • Handles accurate cash and credit transactions, including daily cash deposits when required., • Supports training initiatives and mentors new Team Members during onboarding., • Holds leadership team accountable for assigned daily, weekly, and monthly tasks., • Handles customer complaints and resolves issues professionally and promptly., • Assists in inventory management and restocks supplies as needed, including product displays., • Provides guidance on proper line busting during peak periods to expedite customer orders, which may require exposure to various elements., • Proficient at working independently during shifts with self-directed initiative and minimal supervision., • Always follows Black Rock Coffee Bar policies and procedures diligently., • Black Rock Coffee Bar reserves the right to add or modify duties and responsibilities at any time and at its sole discretion. Work Environment. This hourly, non-exempt role operates primarily in retail store and field settings and occasional travel for trainings, meetings, and openings. It also requires regular administrative work on site. You must be able to work in the following conditions and perform the following tasks: • Fast-paced, guest-facing setting with periods of high noise during peak hours, • Exposure to heat, cold, steam, and approved cleaning agents per safety data sheets, • Frequent on-bar work with direct customer interaction and POS use, • Variable schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, • Work performed on foot for most of the shift, with rest and meal periods provided per law, • Indoor and outdoor duties, including line busting and event support with weather exposure, • Regular travel within the assigned market and occasional out-of-market travel, • Use of handheld devices, computers, and store systems to complete job functions, • Periodic desk and computer work for scheduling, payroll review, inventory, email, and reporting, • Accurate data entry and review in Company systems including 7Shifts, Revel/POS, SPOC, HME, Nexonia, LMS, and HRIS with strict confidentiality, • Reading, drafting, and responding to communications, SOPs, training materials, and corrective actions, • Participation in virtual meetings and trainings using video, audio, and chat tools, • Use of standard office equipment including computer, keyboard, mouse, printer, and scanner, • Ability to sit for extended periods interspersed with standing and walking as duties require, • Visual acuity for digital dashboards, spreadsheets, and reports, and auditory ability for calls and meetings, • Light lifting and carrying of office supplies and documents up to 15 pounds Skills and Competencies.
