Job Description Job Title: Dietary Worker Job Description This role supports the food service operations within a hospital environment by preparing and serving food for patients, the cafeteria, and special functions. You will help ensure safe and sanitary food handling, maintain clean and orderly work areas, and provide courteous service to patients and cafeteria customers. Responsibilities • Prepare food for patients according to their requests and therapeutic diet orders, following established recipes and portion guidelines., • Assemble patient trays in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring all required items are included and properly arranged., • Prepare food for the cafeteria and special functions, supporting overall food production needs., • Serve cafeteria customers promptly and courteously, maintaining a professional and welcoming demeanor., • Handle cash accurately and operate the cash register in the cafeteria in compliance with established procedures., • Perform dishwashing duties, including washing, rinsing, and sanitizing dishes, utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment., • Carry out general cleaning and custodial tasks such as mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing work areas., • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all food preparation, serving, and storage areas in accordance with safety and sanitation standards., • Follow proper and safe use of custodial and kitchen equipment to ensure a safe work environment., • Adhere to established techniques and procedures for efficient and compliant completion of all assigned duties., • Attend scheduled shifts regularly and arrive on time in line with time and attendance expectations., • Work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and some holidays as needed., • Comply with all dress code requirements and maintain high standards for personal appearance and work areas. Essential Skills • Ability to perform food preparation and food production tasks, including basic cooking and food handling., • Capability to assemble patient trays accurately and efficiently according to diet orders., • Skill in dishwashing, including cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment., • Experience or aptitude in general cleaning and custodial duties such as mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing., • Knowledge of proper and safe use of applicable custodial equipment., • Ability to learn and use established techniques for efficient and compliant completion of duties., • Basic cash handling skills and ability to operate a cash register accurately., • Willingness to be open to learning and growing in the role., • Appropriate maturity of judgment and commitment to maintaining high standards for work areas and personal appearance., • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays., • Consistent attendance and punctuality in alignment with time and attendance expectations., • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience., • Ability to comply with dress code requirements., • No previous experience required; ability to learn on the job. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in hospitality, foodservice, or line cook roles is beneficial but not required., • Familiarity with hospital or healthcare food service environments is a plus., • Comfort working in both a modern cafe setting and a traditional kitchen environment. The role involves standing for extended periods, moving between kitchen and service areas, and performing cleaning tasks such as mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and sanitizing. A defined dress code applies, and you are expected to maintain a neat, professional appearance while adhering to all safety and sanitation standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Richmond Heights, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
