Job DescriptionJob Title: Grounds Keeper Maintenance Location: Nashville, TN Duration: 6–12 months General Description The Grounds Keeper performs semi-skilled work in the maintenance, care, and enhancement of campus grounds and landscapes. Responsibilities include operating electrically and gasoline-powered groundskeeping equipment, using hand and power tools for planting, cultivating, and trimming vegetation, and performing general maintenance on groundskeeping equipment. This role also supports minor facility maintenance tasks, such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and delivery of supplies and materials as needed. Employees in this role work under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, with work subject to frequent inspection and review. Distinguishing Features This role focuses on maintaining both grounds and facilities. While supervision is provided, independent judgment and adherence to campus standards are expected. Duties and Responsibilities • Mow lawns and trim grass around walks, flower beds, and walls, • Prune shrubs and trees to shape and encourage healthy growth, • Remove damaged leaves, branches, and twigs using mowers, tractors, and hand/power tools, • Collect and dispose of outside trash and debris, • Maintain hard surfaces, storm drains, and other grounds features, • Client out and tend flower beds and decorative vegetation, • Plant, fertilize, water, and apply herbicides/insecticides to grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs, • Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and driveways; spread salt as needed, • Rake and remove leaves, pick up litter, and maintain driveways and parking lots, • Repair fences, gates, walls, irrigation systems, walks, and outbuildings using carpentry, masonry, pressure washing, and painting tools, • Operate trucks, tractors, and other equipment for grounds preparation and maintenance, • Assist with maintenance and repairs of equipment, buildings, structures, and grounds, • Support plumbing, masonry, carpentry, painting, and minor electrical tasks, • Arrange facilities for special events and ensure safety standards are met, • Attend classroom and virtual training programs as assigned, • Comply with all campus safety policies and procedures, including OSHA standards, • Report accidents and injuries in a timely manner, • Perform related tasks as requiredEssential Job Functions, • Medium to heavy physical work requiring exertion of 50–100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly, • Tasks include climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, and grasping, • Vocal communication, hearing, and visual acuity required for safety and operational tasks, • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution, • General knowledge of tools, materials, and equipment used in groundskeeping and maintenance, • Understanding of safety precautions for operating grounds and maintenance equipment, • Candidates must pass a TBI/FBI background check, fingerprinting, child abuse records check, employment verification, and professional/personal references, • Any discrepancies may result in disqualification due to the school-based position #TB_EN #ZR Why TalentBurst?
