This is a rare opportunity to take full ownership of a service from the ground up shaping the culture, standards, policies, and long-term vision from day one. The home will support children and young people with learning disabilities, autism, and associated complex needs, delivering trauma-informed, person-centred care in a safe and nurturing environment. Youll play a pivotal role in registration with Ofsted, embedding compliance, recruiting and developing a high-quality staff team, and creating a home where children can truly thrive. Key Responsibilities * Lead the establishment and registration of the childrens home with Ofsted * Develop the Statement of Purpose, policies, procedures, and regulatory framework * Ensure full compliance with Childrens Homes Regulations & Quality Standards * Manage the home day-to-day, maintaining high standards of safeguarding and care * Recruit, coach, supervise, and develop a skilled and values-driven staff team * Oversee care planning, EHCP-linked outcomes, and individual support strategies * Build strong relationships with families, local authorities, education and health partners * Manage budgets, rotas, resources, and occupancy effectively * Produce and maintain all statutory documentation, including Reg 44/45 reports * Lead on quality assurance, audits, and continuous service improvement * Participate in an on-call rota About You Youll be a confident, compassionate, and highly experienced leader with a strong background in learning disabilities and SEN residential care, ready to take ownership of a startup service and guide it to success. The Role: As a Deputy Home Manager, you will: Work alongside the Home Manager, to manage all aspects of the day-to-day running of the home. Coach, support and develop staff to maximise their performance and ensure high standards of care are met. Liaise with other departments and external agencies to ensure that the young people receive appropriate plans and programmes that meet their needs and the needs of the Contract. Participate in the risk assessment during admissions process to ensure that the immediate vulnerability and risk of the young person is determined accurately. Promote a positive health and safety culture to meet and maintain company and external accreditation standards. Demonstrate to young people, through pro-social modelling, the value of education and care, and the ability to develop skills maximise positive behaviour, and transition into adulthood. Form trusting, respectful, boundaries, professional relationships with young people, in order that they respond and react appropriately to information and guidance. Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed to a high standard, within required timescales and communicated effectively, in order to comply with the Contract and Company Policies and Procedures. Support the senior management team in the implementation of development strategies promoting a positive approach to ensure the change process is embraced. Hours of Work: Contracted hours are 40 hours per week, you will be required to work shifts or sleep ins when needed to meet the needs of the home. You will also be required to participate in the on call for the cluster. What Youll Bring Previous experience working with children and young people in a leadership role in a residential or similar setting is essential Hold QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare or an equivalent qualification A full UK Driving Licence is preferable Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
