About the role: As an EC&I Technician, you’ll provide electrical, control and instrumentation support to the plant mainly focussed on planned and unplanned maintenance activities. Day to day you’ll support the process by providing timely repairs to breakdowns and carrying out planned maintenance activities including instrumentation calibrations. You’ll ensure that all work is managed and recorded correctly to maintain compliance, inspiring safe ways of working across the site, setting a high standard of EC&I engineering activity, and supporting in rolling out new processes, systems, and ways of working to your colleagues on site. You’ll be joining a tight knit, dedicated team based on site, who are also part of a larger group with a wide support network. Who we’re looking for: You’ll need to have experience in solving problems and being a strong communicator to be able to persuade and influence others. You should be educated to at least ONC level in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering and should have served a recognised Apprenticeship. Specifically, you’ll need plant experience in the maintenance, repair and installation of electrical equipment, including but not restricted to, 3 phase motors and associated switchgear, variable speed drives, soft starts, circuit breakers, motor control centres and 3 phase and single-phase distribution systems. You’ll be able interpret schematic drawings, single line diagrams and PLC ladder logic. Ideally, you’ll also have process plant experience in the maintenance, repair, installation and calibration of plant instrumentation and control systems including, but not restricted to, systems for the measurement of temperature, pressure, level, flow, oxygen, and ph. Your new role As part of the Grounds Maintenance operations team, you will be responsible for excavating graves and general maintenance for the day to day-up keep of the three Portsmouth cemeteries and other areas . Using excavators, dumper trucks and other related burial equipment, you will be responsible for locating, marking and excavating graves in accordance with the cemetery map and code of safe working practice. A mechanical excavator will be used although digging by hand may also be required. In addition, you will assist members of the public regarding locations of plots/graves and undertakers and masons in location and preparation of funerals. The role also includes maintenance of the surrounding area and of shrub beds within the cemetery, general litter picking and sweeping paths. Job Purpose Working with the site O&M teams leaders/supervisors, with minimal direction from the site/leadership, you will provide an engineering planning service for all works to be completed by the site O&M team in line with MR standards. You will provide a high level of technical support and guidance in areas which are key to the teams performing maintenance activities in a controlled and effective manner to minimise downtime attributed to engineering failure.
