Are you a hands-on Multi-Skilled Engineer who enjoys taking ownership, leading from the front, and keeping a busy manufacturing site running at its best? We are recruiting on behalf of a successful and well-established manufacturing business that is looking for a Multi-Skilled Engineer to take a key role within its engineering team. This is not just a reactive maintenance role. You will be the senior engineering presence on shift, trusted to make decisions, support production, guide other engineers, respond quickly to breakdowns, and drive improvements that have a direct impact on uptime, efficiency, safety, and overall site performance. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining plant, machinery, and site services, while also supporting planned maintenance, continuous improvement, capital projects, and engineering compliance. The Role As Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will be responsible for keeping production moving during the night shift, ensuring breakdowns are dealt with quickly and effectively while also supporting longer-term reliability improvements. You will be hands-on with factory equipment, carrying out fault finding, repairs, planned maintenance, and root cause analysis. You will also act as the key engineering point of contact on shift, helping to prioritise workloads, support colleagues, and ensure engineering standards are maintained. Key Responsibilities You will: • Prioritise maintenance and breakdown activities to maximise equipment uptime, • Act as the senior engineering point of contact on shift, • Maintain production machinery and site services equipment to a high standard, • Carry out mechanical and electrical fault finding, troubleshooting, and repairs, • Complete root cause analysis to help prevent repeat failures, • Support and improve Planned Preventative Maintenance schedules, • Ensure all work is accurately recorded through CMMS systems, • Maintain stock control accuracy and support effective engineering stores management, • Identify engineering improvements that enhance efficiency, sustainability, and OEE, • Support capital projects and the introduction of new machinery, • Work closely with production and factory management to deliver practical solutions, • Help reduce downtime, waste, energy usage, and maintenance costs, • Ensure full compliance with health and safety standards and company procedures, • Support audits and proactively address engineering-related risks, • Uphold statutory requirements including PUWER, LOLER, and DSEAR About You To be considered, you will need: • Proven experience in a multi-skilled engineering role within manufacturing, food production, FMCG, or a similar fast-paced environment, • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability, • Experience with planned maintenance, breakdown response, and reliability improvement, • Knowledge of PPM, continuous improvement, and root cause analysis techniques, • Previous leadership, supervisory, or senior shift engineering experience, • A time-served apprenticeship or formal engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent, • Strong communication skills and the confidence to make decisions under pressure, • A proactive, practical, and improvement-focused approach, • A strong commitment to safety, compliance, and engineering best practice Whats On Offer This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that values its engineers and gives them the trust, autonomy, and support to make a real impact.
