We have an exciting new opportunity with our client - who is looking for a litigation lawyer, 4 PQE +, 12 months to work (hybrid) from their Bristol office! Our client is a globally recognised company in the tobacco industry. Your responsibilities will include: • Day-to-day support with general commercial matters, • Assisting the Senior Dispute Resolution Counsel with the categorisation of legal disputes and potential legal disputes that are notified to the DR Team by Cluster/market CLA to determine whether they are managed in market, by the DR Team or as joint undertaking., • Assisting the Senior Dispute Resolution Counsel with the management of discrete aspects of material (material/high-stakes) legal disputes that are categorised as Category 1 matters, including the development of DR strategies, communications, and the coordination of negotiation/mediation and other settlement processes as appropriate., • Provide strategic support in relation to Category 2 matters and, on a case-by-case basis, develop DR strategies, communications and assist with negotiation/mediation and other settlement processes as appropriate., • Provide strategic support in relation to Category 3 cases where necessary., • In all cases, manage the tracking of cases notified to the DR Team by keeping the litigation tracker updated, coordinating with Cluster/market CLA for monthly updates on cases and assisting the Senior Dispute Resolution Counsel in the preparation of litigation reports for the Board, Board Committees, ELT, Senior Leadership and external auditors where necessary., • Drafting of materials and/or delivery of training to business managers on relevant topics such as legal privilege, or document creation, retention, disclosure and management., • Support responses to consumer complaints with a ‘novel’ health effect or where there appears to be a trend in cases., • Advise on product liability issues, including supporting and occasionally leading responses to product safety issues or potential product issues, including corrective action., • Lead and manage e-disclosure processes, including the identification, preservation and collection of electronically stored materials, working with relevant custodians and external counsel., • Review and approve external-facing documents from a litigation perspective. Ideal candidate spec: • Experience in litigation case management., • Experience handling product liability and litigation., • Requires a large degree of autonomy and the ability to work independently., • Strong legal background, with the ability to apply this commercially and to provide confident advice to all levels of stakeholders., • Good organisational and project management skills, accuracy and attention to detail., • Excellent written, drafting and communication skills, and the ability to work with teams and across multiple disciplines and countries., • Ability to manage external advisors, whilst controlling costs., • Ability to work in a matrixed and global environment, to handle multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders efficiently and effectively, and firm resolve when robust advice is required., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent negotiation, drafting and analytical skills., • "Roll-up sleeves" mentality and ability., • International travel may be required.
