As part of this commitment, we are seeking a Senior Operational Capability Manager to lead the strategic uplift of operational maturity and capability across the data centre estate. This is a key role in shaping how our Client’s operations evolve to meet current and future customer demands. About the Role The Senior Operational Capability Manager will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence through continuous improvement, process optimisation, and capability development across the data centre operations function. You will be responsible for embedding best practice frameworks, uplifting technical and operational standards, and leading initiatives that enhance reliability, safety, and performance across multiple data centre sites. Working closely with Senior Data Centre Managers, Engineering, Technology, and Operational Leadership teams, you will ensure that processes, systems, and people are aligned to deliver exceptional service to customers at all times. Key Responsibilities • Lead the continuous improvement of data centre operations, driving consistency and excellence across all sites., • Develop, establish, and maintain robust operational process frameworks and best practices to enhance performance and reduce risk., • Provide technical coaching, mentoring, and capability development for data centre teams to uplift knowledge and performance standards., • Partner with Senior Data Centre Managers to proactively manage and resolve incidents, ensuring lessons learned are captured and acted upon., • Lead detailed root cause analysis of incidents and oversee the implementation of preventative measures., • Coordinate service planning and maintenance activities, ensuring minimal customer impact and alignment with business priorities., • Collaborate with the Operational Technology Product Manager to identify, implement, and optimise digital tools and automation platforms (e.g. DCIM, CMDB, workflow systems) that improve operational visibility and efficiency., • Produce regular reports and insights for senior leadership on operational maturity, risk management, performance, and improvement initiatives., • Contribute to long-term strategic planning, including readiness for new site launches and infrastructure expansion projects., • Champion a culture of operational excellence, continuous learning, and accountability across the operations function. Qualifications and Experience • Significant experience in data centre operations, ideally within a mission-critical or high-availability environment., • Proven track record in service improvement, process optimisation, or operational transformation within technical infrastructure settings., • Strong working knowledge of IT infrastructure, critical facilities management, and data centre operational standards., • Familiarity with ITIL, ISO 27001/50001/9001, risk management, and other relevant frameworks., • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives and managing complex operational challenges., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in developing and interpreting operational metrics and KPIs., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and executive stakeholders., • Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear technical and strategic documentation.
