Safeguarding Team Leader \n Location: Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester \n Pay: From £21+ per hour \n Until July 2027 \n Start Date: ASAP \n Are you an experienced safeguarding professional looking to make a real difference within Further Education? We are seeking a dedicated Safeguarding Team Leader to join a thriving FE College in Wythenshawe, providing strategic and operational safeguarding support to learners and staff. \n This is an excellent opportunity to lead on safeguarding practices, promote student welfare, and ensure learners are supported to achieve their full potential in a safe and inclusive environment. \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Lead and coordinate safeguarding and child protection activities across the college.\n, • Act as the primary point of contact for safeguarding concerns and referrals.\n, • Manage and support a team of safeguarding professionals, providing guidance and supervision.\n, • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are implemented effectively and remain compliant with statutory requirements.\n, • Work closely with curriculum teams, support staff, external agencies, and parents/carers to safeguard learners.\n, • Manage safeguarding cases, maintain accurate records, and ensure appropriate actions are taken.\n, • Lead on referrals to external agencies, including social care, police, and other support services where required.\n, • Promote a culture of safeguarding, wellbeing, equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout the college.\n, • Deliver safeguarding advice, guidance, and training to staff as required.\n, • Support vulnerable learners, including those with SEND, mental health needs, care experience, or additional support requirements.\n, • Contribute to safeguarding audits, quality assurance processes, and reporting requirements.\n, • Lead on Prevent, wellbeing, and student welfare initiatives where applicable.\n\n Required Skills & Experience \n\n • Previous experience working in a safeguarding role within an FE College, school, university, local authority, or similar educational setting.\n, • Experience managing complex safeguarding cases and working with external agencies.\n, • Knowledge of current safeguarding legislation, child protection procedures, Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), and Prevent duties.\n, • Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising staff.\n, • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.\n, • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.\n, • Experience maintaining confidential records and producing detailed reports.\n, • Ability to make informed decisions and respond effectively to safeguarding concerns.\n, • Relevant safeguarding qualification or willingness to undertake further training.\n, • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.\n\n Why Work With Reed? \n\n • Access to exclusive FE and SEND opportunities.\n, • Dedicated support from a Specialist SEN Consultant.\n, • Health Cash Plan & REED Discount Club.\n, • Statutory Sick Pay and family leave benefits.\n, • Access to REED Learning & Development programmes.\n, • Eye test and spectacle vouchers.\n\n If you're passionate about supporting learners and making a positive impact, we'd love to hear from you. \n Click Apply Now!
