Job Description: Chef de Partie Hitchin Priory Hotel, Tilehouse Street, Hitchin, Hertfordshire, SG5 2DL Role Details Job Title : Chef de Partie Location: Hitchin Priory Hotel, Hitchin, SG5 2DL Department: Kitchen / Food and Beverage Reports To : Head Chef Employment Type: Full-time 40 hours Salary : up to £30k Working Pattern: Flexible shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required Role Purpose The Chef de Partie will support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality, fresh food for hotel guests, restaurant service, events, functions and other meal periods at Hitchin Priory Hotel. The role requires strong cookery skills, excellent organisation, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a busy kitchen team. Key Responsibilities Prepare, cook and present dishes to the required standard, following recipes, specifications and portion controls. Run an assigned kitchen section efficiently during preparation and service. Support the delivery of food for breakfasts, lunches, dinners, afternoon teas, weddings, meetings, buffets and other hotel events. Ensure food is served at the correct temperature and presented consistently in line with hotel standards. Set up and close down the section with all necessary ingredients, equipment and supplies. Maintain stock rotation, labelling and storage in line with food safety requirements. Keep work areas, utensils and equipment clean, safe and well organised at all times. Follow food hygiene, health and safety, allergen and sanitation procedures. Work collaboratively with the Head Chef, Sous Chef and wider kitchen team to ensure smooth and timely service. Assist with receiving deliveries, checking quality and reporting shortages or issues. Contribute ideas for menu development, specials and improvements where appropriate. Support junior chefs, kitchen porters and new team members by setting a good example and sharing knowledge. Skills and Experience Previous minimum two years experience in a professional kitchen environment required , ideally within a hotel, restaurant, events or banqueting setting. Good knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and kitchen operations. Understanding of food safety, hygiene, allergen awareness and safe working practices. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced service environment. High standards of presentation, cleanliness and attention to detail. Good time management, organisation and communication skills. Positive attitude, reliability and willingness to support colleagues across the kitchen.
