Internal Audit Assistant Manager An established Advisory practice is seeking an ambitious and proactive Assistant Manager to join its growing Risk & Advisory Services team. About the Team The Risk & Advisory Services function supports organisations across commercial and not‑for‑profit sectors, helping them navigate increasingly complex risk landscapes. Through a blend of assurance, advisory and specialist review work, the team strengthens governance frameworks, enhances internal controls, and provides meaningful insights that drive better decision‑making. Working here means building long-lasting client relationships, applying professional judgement, and collaborating with skilled colleagues who value initiative, integrity, and continuous improvement The Role The Assistant Manager will play a key role in delivering high‑quality internal audit and advisory engagements. Working across a diverse client base, they will: • Manage a small portfolio of engagements, contributing to audit strategy, scoping and detailed planning., • Lead internal audit and specialist assignments from planning to final reporting, ensuring work meets professional standards., • Conduct and review audit testing, carrying out first‑level quality checks on working papers and clearing review points., • Identify financial, operational, and compliance risks, developing clear, practical recommendations for improvement., • Communicate findings confidently to stakeholders, producing well‑structured, persuasive written reports., • Support consultancy projects and take the lead on on‑site delivery where required., • Oversee budgets, billing and engagement administration., • Mentor and coach junior colleagues, contributing to their development and supporting a collaborative team culture. The ideal candidate will bring: • Strong experience in internal audit or related risk and assurance work., • A recognised professional qualification (e.g., CIA, CMIIA/MIIA, CCAB or equivalent)., • Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver audits with sound professional judgement., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders., • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with audit systems, flowcharting tools or data analytics is an advantage., • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously., • A proactive, collaborative mindset and genuine interest in developing others.
