Job DescriptionSalary: $70,000 - $82,000 Position Summary The Policy Analyst analyzes legislative and regulatory policies and proposals; assesses their impact on people with disabilities, and educates policymakers accordingly. The position reports directly to one of DLCs Co-Legal Directors. PRIMARY Responsibilities (not exhaustive) • Analyze existing laws and proposed changes in state and federal statutes and regulations, • Educate state legislators and other policymakers about the impact of their decisions on people with disabilities, • Develop policy proposals to improve the lives of people with disabilities, • Advocate for DLCs agenda during the Colorado legislative session, • Monitor and review state agency budgets, including supplemental requests, • Track, analyze, and engage in state agency rulemaking, • Build strategic relationships with other advocacy organizations and stakeholders, • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of nonprofit lobbying rules and ensure compliance with all state and federal requirements, including reporting obligations and limitations on the use of federal funds, • Represent DLC in public forums, panels, commissions, and coalitions, • Convey DLCs positions to the public and the news media, • Provide trainings on disability rights and policy developments, • Develop and edit written and multimedia content All employees must respect the values of the disability rights movement and advance the public image of DLC as a trusted and competent resource. All employees must also exhibit work performance consistent with the Colorado Rules of Professional Conduct and the National Disability Rights Networks Standards. Qualifications REQUIRED • Bachelors degree in public policy, public administration, public health, political science, social work, or similar field, • Two or more years of experience in policy analysis, advocacy, government, or another relevant field, • Ability to register and remain in good standing as a lobbyist in Colorado, • Strong communication, research, writing, and organizational skills, • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, • Commitment to disability justice, equity, and self-advocacy PREFERRED • JD, MPP, MPA, MPH, MSW, or similar advanced degree, • Lived experience with disability Work Environment This position is based in Colorado. Candidates must reside in Colorado or be willing to relocate prior to their start date. DLC offers a flexible work environment, with the option to work remotely or from our Denver office. DLC provides equipment to employees to work successfully in a remote environment, including, but not limited to, laptops and phones. This role requires regular in-person work at the Colorado State Capitol, state agencies, and community locations, as well as occasional evening or non-standard hours during legislative sessions. Compensation & Benefits This is a full-time, exempt position. The salary range is $70,000 to $82,000 annually, depending on experience.
