Job DescriptionPosition Description Wally’s Maintenance Leads are essential members of the Maintenance Team, responsible for delivering outstanding guest service while ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the store, lot, fuel pumps, canopy, and surrounding areas. Maintenance Leads supervise and work alongside team members, guiding small crews to complete daily cleaning and maintenance tasks efficiently and to Wally’s standards. Successful Maintenance Leads are skilled in using janitorial tools, operating power equipment, and following task lists with minimal supervision. They create a guest-focused environment by maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming facilities. In addition to their technical role, Maintenance Leads train and develop team members within their department and provide support to all store departments as needed to ensure smooth operations. Responsibilities and DutiesLeadership & Team Development • Direct, coach, and support maintenance team members during daily operations., • Assign tasks and ensure timely completion of repairs, inspections, cleaning, and preventative work., • Provide coaching, mentorship, and guidance through Wally’s Training Program and scheduled team member touchpoints., • Assist in the team member evaluation process and corrective action process., • Promote professionalism, accountability, and teamwork while modeling Wally’s standards at all times., • Communicate effectively with managers and other department leads to coordinate projects and resolve issues.Guest Experience & Professionalism, • Provide an upbeat, polite, and pleasant guest experience while performing duties in a timely fashion., • Maintain a professional appearance by complying with uniform standards and Wally’s grooming expectations.Maintenance & Operations, • Oversee and participate in routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment, facilities, and building systems., • Monitor daily maintenance requests, prioritize work orders, and follow up to ensure completion., • Maintain organized records of equipment service, inspections, and repairs., • Assist with vendor coordination and monitor contractor work for quality and compliance.Safety & Compliance, • Follow and comply with Wally’s standard operating procedures, Team Member Handbook, and management directives., • Ensure compliance with company policies and state/federal safety regulations., • Enforce Wally’s safety standards, ensuring team members wear proper PPE and follow safe work practices., • Conduct regular safety checks and inspections, reporting and addressing hazards promptly., • Respond promptly to emergencies (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.) and escalate major issues as needed.Facility & Grounds Maintenance, • Remove trash from interior, exterior, and parking areas using carts, hand tools, and power equipment., • Clean and sanitize restrooms, floors, touch surfaces, offices, department equipment, doors, and other interior areas., • Oversee and ensure maintenance of all exterior areas including sidewalks, parking stalls, fuel pumps, canopy, and building surfaces.Operational Support, • Ensure stocking to par levels of all soda and sloosh bibs stored following Wally’s standard operating procedures., • Work with management to track and request needed supplies, tools, and parts within budget guidelines., • Support other departments when needed to ensure smooth store operations.Other Responsibilities, • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the maintenance tools and supply areas., • Perform additional duties as assigned by management., • Maintain flexibility in scheduling, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays. Position Requirements High school diploma or GED preferred. 1 to 2 years prior maintenance or janitorial experience is preferred. 1 year of supervising small teams is preferred. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to communicate and/or write simple correspondence. Ability to operate power equipment such as kubota, snow thrower, walk behind floor scrubber, and power washer in a safe and efficient manner. Intermediate knowledge of the use of hand and power tools. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Maintenance leads are regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
