Title: Maintenance Supervisor The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day execution of maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This guides the work of the maintenance technicians, coordinates preventative and corrective maintenance work, and supports equipment reliability initiatives within the facility. The Maintenance Supervisor partners closely with Operations and the Maintenance & Facilities Manager to ensure equipment uptime, timely completion of maintenance work, and adherence to safety, food safety, and regulatory standards. This role provides technical leadership while actively supporting troubleshooting, training, and continuous improvement efforts across the maintenance team. The position serves as the primary front-line leader for the maintenance department and plays a key role in developing technician capability, improving equipment reliability, and executing preventive and predictive maintenance programs. What You’ll Do: Team Leadership & Supervision * Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of maintenance technicians to support plant production and facility operations. * Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to Maintenance Technician I and II team members. * Support technician training, skill development, and cross-training programs. * Ensure maintenance team adherence to safety, food safety, and regulatory standards including EHS, GMP, and company policies. * Schedule maintenance staff to ensure appropriate coverage for planned maintenance and emergency support. Maintenance Execution * Oversee the execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities. * Ensure work orders are properly prioritized, completed, and documented within the maintenance management system (CMMS). * Assist technicians with troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled equipment. * Coordinate equipment repairs, installations, and modifications to support operational needs. * Ensure preventive maintenance tasks are completed according to schedule and standards. Equipment Reliability & Continuous Improvement * Support the implementation of maintenance reliability initiatives such as TPM, preventive maintenance (PM), and predictive maintenance (PdM). * Assist with root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions to reduce downtime and improve equipment performance. * Identify opportunities for equipment reliability improvements and process enhancements. * Monitor maintenance metrics including downtime, PM completion, and equipment performance trends. Maintenance Planning & Coordination * Coordinate maintenance planning and scheduling with the Maintenance & Facilities Manager and Operations team. * Ensure efficient coordination between maintenance and production teams to minimize disruption to operations. * Assist in managing maintenance backlog and prioritizing work orders. * Coordinate with external contractors and vendors performing maintenance or service work. Safety, Compliance & Documentation * Promote and enforce safe work practices including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, and other safety procedures. * Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and work documentation. * Ensure equipment maintenance meets regulatory and food safety requirements. * Maintain housekeeping standards in maintenance areas and workspaces. Cross-Functional Support * Partner with Operations to support equipment reliability and production performance. * Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and operational problem-solving. * Support facility emergencies and critical equipment issues when required. The Qualifications: Education & Experience * Technical degree, vocational training, or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred. * 5–7 years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing or food processing environments. * 2–3 years of leadership, team lead, or supervisory experience preferred. Technical Skills * Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automated equipment troubleshooting. * Experience working with PLC-controlled systems, sensors, drives, and HMIs. * Working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs. * Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics. * Familiarity with CMMS systems and work order management. Leadership & Communication * Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment. * Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments. * Ability to lead by example in safety, accountability, and operational excellence. Preferred Qualifications * Food manufacturing experience. * Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. * Experience with TPM or reliability-centered maintenance practices. Physical Requirements * Ability to maintain stationary position to operate a computer and other office equipment. * Must be able to identify, analyze, and assess details. * Occasionally move or transport items up to 50 pounds. * Ability to communicate with others and exchange information accurately and effectively. * Constantly position self and move about to support plant operations. * Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
