Job Description Senior Manufacturing Automation Technician Imagine your day: You start by reviewing overnight performance on high-level assembly and molding lines. A robot’s pick routine needs a tweak, so you dive into the HMI, verify the validated state, and bring the cell back to target cycle time. Midday, you’re fabricating a bracket, wiring sensors, and assembling mechanisms to complete a new automated station per design prints. After lunch, you execute equipment validation protocols for a customer launch, document modifications, and lock in permanent corrective actions. Before you leave, you fine-tune a pneumatic circuit, update standard work for operators, and hand off a clean, stable process to Production. About SMC Ltd. What you will own • Build automated equipment to exact design specifications; assemble, wire, and integrate controls and mechanisms., • Validate equipment to support internal stakeholders and external customers; maintain operation within validated parameters while meeting production goals., • Serve as the go-to expert for setting up, operating, and adjusting complex production machinery (manual and automated) for assembly and molding systems., • Identify, recommend, and implement process and design improvements, automation upgrades, and equipment enhancements., • Provide hands-on technical support to drive continuous improvement, competitive advantage, and adoption of appropriate new technologies., • Troubleshoot and repair equipment; perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and assembly as needed., • Create clear, user-focused standard work instructions and documentation for custom equipment and modifications., • Analyze manufacturing methods to resolve issues impacting cost, operator safety, productivity, and quality., • Support cross-functional teams and evaluate/test machinery for better manufacturing methods., • Install and qualify both standard and custom equipment; implement permanent corrective actions and update processes., • Handle other related duties as assigned. Shift options, • Swing Shift - (Mon.-Fri., 3:00 PM-11:30 PM) - $1.00 shift differential will be added to your regular hourly rate for working swing shift., • Graveyard Shift: (Mon.-Fri., 11:00 PM-7:30 AM) - $3.00 shift differential will be added to your regular hourly rate for working graveyard shift. Qualifications, • High school diploma or equivalent., • 5+ years as a technician in a highly regulated manufacturing environment., • Ownership of equipment maintenance, setup, and precise adjustment to sustain performance., • High proficiency with hand and power tools; able to weld, cut, and assemble as needed., • Advanced troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, HVAC, and control systems., • Sound judgment for problem analysis, evaluation, and resolution., • Effective communicator with teammates at every level, plus customers and vendors., • Strong computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, IQMS, Acrobat, CAD, and related software. Preferred, • Medical device manufacturing experience., • Background with lean manufacturing principles.
