SUMMARY The Yard Jockey is responsive to the Plant Manager regarding movement of trailers between bays and our facility. The yard jockey is responsible for timely movements and thorough knowledge of on-hand inventory and positioning. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other functions may be assigned. • Responsible to maintain a neat and orderly storage lot oriented toward maximizing efficiency in servicing the plant needs., • Operate yard truck in a safe manner during numerous roll-on/roll-off procedures daily involving loaded and empty containers/trailers., • Drive and operate vehicle under 15 mph in and around the plant and storage lot., • Must be aware that operations occur on asphalt, concrete and gravel surfaces in an environment often contaminated with material subject to embedding in tires., • Responsible for accounting for records involving container/trailer numbers, gross weights, tare weights, and net weights on the scale log sheet to include source and type of material., • Must function and interact on a daily basis with plant personnel and comply with plant safety requirements., • Ensures that assigned paperwork is completed legibly, neatly, accurately, and completely and returned to Transportation Supervisor or Dispatcher for processing. Ensures DOT Driver Log is completed, if applicable., • Communicate using a cellular telephone or 2-way radio with dispatch, operations, and plant personnel., • High School Diploma or GED required., • Must have at least 2 years’ experience with driving a tractor trailer., • Yard Driver experience is a plus., • Maintains current required driver’s license, with an excellent driving record., • Must have CDL A license., • Maintains current Medical Examiner’s Certification (MEC)., • Must work safely and carefully to prevent injury to self and others while driving, loading, and unloading vehicle. SUMMARY Responsible for servicing assigned LQ (Large Quantity) and SQ (Small Quantity) accounts in the most professional way, ensuring that customers’ needs are met on a continual basis for various medical waste pickup and supply delivery. Provides the highest level of customer service possible at all times. May also transport waste from either a Curtis Bay location or customer location, to a transfer location or processing location. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: · Pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations. · Manages assigned routes ensuring customers’ waste is picked up in a timely and accurate manner. · Plans daily schedule based on customers’ needs by reviewing daily paperwork, ie: manifest, route sheets, etc. provided by Manager/Supervisor or Route Coordinator/Dispatcher. · May prepare and load trucks to service select accounts for the day ensuring enough supplies are added. · Pick up specified waste from each customer site scheduled for the day. Ensures that customers have packages and prepared the waste according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations before transporting. · Provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts on a daily basis, communicating any issues to Manager/Supervisor or Route Coordinator/Dispatcher for resolution. This includes, but not limited to re-routes, adjustments in container sizes, training, etc. · Ensures waste, supplies and material handling equipment are secured prior to operating vehicle on public highway. · Ensures that assigned paperwork is completely legible, neat, and accurate and turned into Manager/Supervisor and/or Route Coordinator/Dispatcher for processing. Ensures DOT Driver Log is completed, if applicable. · Communicates with Curtis Bay Transportation Supervisor’s and/or Dispatcher regarding any change to route pickups, including address changes, customer not having waste ready for pickup, etc. Ensures that employee covering for specific route is aware of any situations outside the norm in order to provide the highest level of customer service. Reports any problems/issues with accounts to Transportation Supervisor and/or Dispatcher before the close of business each day. Performs a documented pre-trip and post-trip maintenance on assigned truck prior to leaving or closing for the day. Reports any maintenance problems to Manager/Supervisor and/or Route Coordinator/Dispatcher for follow-up. Requirements: Requirements Education and Experience: • High School Diploma or GED required. • Must have at least 2 years’ experience with driving a tractor trailer. • Maintains current required driver’s license, with an excellent driving record. Must have CDL A License. • Portrays a strong professional appearance and attitude at all times and in all situations. • Maintains current Medical Examiner’s Certification (MEC). • Must work safely and carefully to prevent injury to self and others while driving, loading, and unloading vehicle.
