Job Description The Pump Station Maintenance Technician position will be responsible for performing a variety of skilled technical duties and semi-skilled labor related to the mechanical aspects of SD1 pump stations. This position will involve multi-skilled work in the maintenance, operation, and repair of pumps, motors, and mechanical equipment. The work requires confined space entries and lock out/tag out of mechanical components. The employee must be proficient in fabrication of machines, parts, and structures and job organization and tracking. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but not limited to, the following): • Support 24/7 operations of SD1 force mains, pump stations, and associated facilities, • Repair or maintain the operating condition of sewage pumps and equipment, • Repair, overhaul, install, test and inspect mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment at pump stations and associated facilities, • Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs, • Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery, • Operates hand and machine tools to specified tolerances, • Performs craft maintenance on grounds and structures, • Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment. To include welding and or fabrication of parts, • Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery, • Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear, • Work in confined spaces inside storage tanks, vaults, and wet wells, • Safely de-energize and lock out an electrical circuit, • Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems, • Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using multimeters or other testing devices, • Study blueprints, or manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation or operation of pumps, motors and other equipment, • Initiate work orders and requests repairs by writing work orders in computerized maintenance management system; ensures work orders are accurate and complete, • Document repair and maintenance performed, and update/append records and attributes in computerized maintenance management system, • Record parts or materials used and order or requisition new parts or materials as necessary, • Understand and use SD1’s procurement guidelines to order or re-order parts, • Wears all required safety equipment, encourages safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the proper personnel, • Respond to emergency callouts and perform stand-by duties as required.
