Job Description We are currently seeking resumes from qualified, responsible, self-sufficient, SUE Technician for our Phoenix, Arizona office. The ideal candidate will be motivated to develop and build their personal knowledge and skills to assist with the growth and success of the office. We offer a friendly, professional atmosphere with excellent benefits and a salary commensurate with experience. Job Description: This position will perform field labor and minor maintenance tasks. Field labor includes operating a jack hammer, vacuum excavation for underground utility locations, measuring utility depth and sizes, completing data sheets, and identifying various utility types. Responsibilities Include: • Learn the operation of SUE utility locating and designating equipment, including pipe and cable locators and non-destructive vacuum excavation, • Use of tools and equipment to conduct utility investigations, including jackhammer, pogo-tamper, concrete saw, compressor blower, vacuum hose, air lance, and hand tools, • Drive commercial motor vehicles, however a CDL license is not required, • Complete daily logs of work performed which includes simple mathematics, • Perform daily basic vehicle maintenance, • Perform safety set-up and maintenance of traffic operations under direct supervision of senior field staff, • Assist with survey and data collection tasks, supporting overall crew activities, • Perform daily routine maintenance of equipment Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills): • Required qualifications:, • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED is preferred., • Entry level position, • Basic computer skills, which includes MS Office (Outlook), • Physical Requirements:, • Standing for extended periods of time., • Physical mobility in and around construction sites, traffic work zones, and other field assignments., • Alert and responsive while working in lane closure zones adjacent to high volume average daily traffic., • Ability to carry SUE equipment and supplies in remote, rural or urban surroundings., • Ability to lift 95 lbs. and perform physical movements necessary to operate heavy tools and equipment., • Able to walk long distances continuously., • Walking and climbing on uneven surfaces., • Repeated motions (i.e.- reaching, bending, stooping, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, and handling)., • Environmental Factors:, • Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments (approximately 80% of duties to be performed outdoors in the field and 20% performed indoors in the office/warehouse), • Ability to withstand extreme weather conditions (i.e. hot and freezing temperatures), • Driving for extended periods of time, • Use of electric powered tools, cutting tools and other equipment, • Noise exposure, • Entering confined spaces, • Exposure to construction and traffic work zones, • Extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use, • Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier, • Expected hours of work/Travel:, • Standard work hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. However, some projects will require the work be completed at night or on weekends., • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, by company vehicle or commercial airline, up to 2-week continuous stay., • Other:, • Must have good oral communication skills and attention to detail, • OSHA Safety certifications are a plus, • Prior utility related experience is a plus, • Basic understanding of Highway/Utility plans is a plus, but not required, • Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier Competencies (To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies): • Communicative – interacts openly with others; can maintain relationships, works well independently or with a team., • Consultative - Consults with other disciplines as needed; tolerates different perspectives or opinions., • Decisive & Action Oriented - Has a high level of energy and stamina; gets things done; makes sound educated but rapid decisions even when short of information; enjoys managing challenging projects and works well in fast-paced and pressure environments.
