Job Description Job Title: Technical Estimator Job Summary This position is responsible for developing cost estimates and construction schedules — from rough-order-of-magnitude to detailed working level — and presenting results in formats suitable for use by clients, design teams, and project leaders. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, analytical thinking, and a creative approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities • Meet and collaborate with clients, engineers, and internal teams to thoroughly understand project requirements., • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and documents to compile project notes, RFIs, scope definitions, and clarifications., • Measure buildings, verify dimensions, and perform test cuts when required., • Conduct take-offs and prepare accurate cost estimates using Edge Estimating software., • Review and interpret Notice to Proceed letters, contracts, and scopes to ensure alignment with pricing accuracy., • Evaluate existing and proposed processes, staffing, and materials to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement., • Draft detailed cost estimates and proposals based on data analysis, distributing reports to project managers, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders., • Generate reports forecasting production scenarios and make recommendations based on findings., • Collaborate with Project Managers during project handoffs and proactively address any estimation-related issues., • Identify areas within estimates where performance can exceed expectations, coordinating improvements with project and production teams., • Participate in post-completion financial analysis, tracking performance metrics, bid results, and accuracy., • Minimum 1 year experience in project estimating or project management within commercial roofing., • Familiarity with commercial roofing systems (single-ply, asphalt, hot/cold applied, metal) is highly preferred., • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with experience creating financial forecasts., • Preferred experience using Edge Estimating software., • Proficient in reading and interpreting specifications and drawings., • Excellent verbal and written communication skills., • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail., • High School Diploma or GED required., • Extended periods of desk and computer work., • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed for field measurement tasks.
