Job Description This position is located in Savannah, GA Negotiable relocation package Job Title: CNC Machinist Job Description The CNC Machinist operates and sets up a variety of CNC and manual machines to produce high-quality parts according to specifications and blueprints. This role works on the second shift, Monday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. The Machinist interprets G-code and M-code, performs basic inspections, and ensures consistent quality on both long run times and large parts. Responsibilities • Set up and operate CNC and manual machines, including horizontal mills, vertical mills, VTLs, lathes, manual mills, surface grinders, and EDMs., • Load and unload parts and tooling in a safe and efficient manner., • Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and job travelers to produce parts to specification., • Read, understand, and apply G-code and M-code to operate CNC equipment accurately., • Use FANUC controls to run and adjust machining programs as needed., • Monitor machine operations during long run times to maintain quality and consistency., • Work with large parts, ensuring proper handling, fixturing, and machining practices., • Perform basic inspections using appropriate measuring tools to verify part dimensions and tolerances., • Identify and correct minor machining issues, making adjustments to tools, offsets, and programs when necessary., • Maintain a strong focus on detail and quality throughout the machining process., • Follow written, oral, and diagram-based instructions to complete assigned tasks., • Communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group settings with internal and external stakeholders., • Apply basic math skills, including working with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages, in daily machining and inspection tasks., • Operate and interpret measurements using both SAE and metric units., • 3–5 years of machining experience, including loading and unloading parts and tooling and performing basic inspections., • Proficiency in operating CNC and manual machines such as horizontal mills, vertical mills, VTLs, lathes, manual mills, surface grinders, and EDMs., • Fluency in reading and understanding G-code and M-code., • Hands-on experience using FANUC controls., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings., • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for quality., • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow instructions, short correspondence, and memos., • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations., • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals., • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs., • Ability to operate and understand measurements using both SAE and metric units., • Experience working with long run times and large parts., • Demonstrated commitment to producing high-quality, precise components., • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks within a shift.
