Job DescriptionSenior Shipping & Receiving SpecialistDepartment: Warehouse & Logistics Reports To: Manager, Warehouse & Logistics Location: USA (Warehouse/Field Environment)Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly experienced Senior Shipping & Receiving Specialist to independently manage and oversee global inbound and outbound shipments. This role ensures full compliance with customs regulations, export control requirements, and dangerous goods transportation standards.The Senior Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for all shipping and receiving matters and plays a key role in optimizing transportation costs, vendor performance, and logistics processes.Key Responsibilities Shipping & Logistics Operations (Primary Focus) • Execute, coordinate, and monitor domestic and international shipments (inbound & outbound), • Ensure compliance with customs regulations, export control laws, and dangerous goods requirements (ground, air, ocean), • Select and manage freight forwarders based on cost, service quality, and reliability, • Coordinate transportation packaging and heavy equipment (forklifts, cranes) for loading/unloading, • Perform goods receipt postings in ERP systems and manage material transfers (U.S./Canada) Customs & Compliance, • Prepare and manage import/export documentation including:, • Export Control documentation, • Carnet A.T.A., • Certificates of Origin, • Dangerous Goods documentation, • Handle customs clearances and tariff classifications, • Ensure compliance with embargo, screening, and dual-use regulations Financial & Vendor Management, • Review and approve freight invoices and tax documentation, • Manage claims for shipment delays, damage, or errors, • Negotiate annual pricing and service agreements with carriers, • Identify cost-saving and process improvement opportunities Documentation & Process Improvement, • Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation, • Support continuous improvement initiatives within logistics operations, • Provide shipment planning and pricing input to other departmentsRequired QualificationsEducation, • Vocational training, apprenticeship, or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field, • Certification in customs and foreign trade, • Dangerous goods certification (ground, ocean, air), • Forklift and overhead crane certificationExperience, • 6+ years of shipping and receiving experience, • 6+ years of customs clearance experience (tariff codes, Carnet ATA), • 2+ years of export control experience (screening, embargo compliance), • 2+ years of claims management experience (insurance & liability knowledge), • Experience mentoring or guiding junior team members, • Experience working in international environments preferredTechnical Skills, • Advanced ERP experience (SAP or similar), • Advanced knowledge of courier systems (UPS, FedEx, DHL), • Advanced knowledge of online customs applications, • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), • Familiarity with Teams and SharePointCore Competencies, • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset, • High level of independence and accountability, • Detail-oriented with excellent documentation discipline, • Strong communication skills (internal & external stakeholders), • Safety-focused mindset, • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global environmentWork Environment, • Warehouse and shop/field environment, • Occasional outdoor exposure (heat, cold, wet conditions), • Exposure to mechanical noise and equipment, • Occasional domestic and international travelPhysical Requirements, • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., • Regular standing, walking, and manual handling, • Occasional bending, kneeling, and climbing, • Ability to operate warehouse equipment safelyWhat We Offer, • 401(k) with immediate match and vesting, • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance, • PPO, HSA, and FSA options, • Short- and long-term disability coverage, • Employee discount programs, • Opportunity to work in a global, high-compliance logistics environment
