Job Description Job Title: Project Engineer II (Structural-Telecom) • Location: Raleigh, NC – must be in the Raleigh, NC area, • Type of Employment: Salaried/Direct Hire - excellent compensation and benefits This Project Engineer II role is responsible for the design, layout, and structural analysis of new or existing communication structures for wireless telecommunication sites (towers, mounts, buildings, foundations, rooftops, etc.). This position may focus on either structural engineering or A+E design—or a combination of both—with emphasis on complex assignments and review of departmental work. All work is performed under the leadership of a professional engineer. Responsibilities may include CAD drafting and occasional travel for engineering inspections and mappings. The role is intended for engineers approaching or recently achieving licensure with limited Engineer of Record responsibilities. Job Description • Prepare formal written reports for clients summarizing results and recommending actions, • Perform calculations based on engineering principles and building code requirements, • Collaborate with Structural and A+E groups to prepare, draft, and review drawings, • Perform basic CAD tasks including structural modification and construction drawings for zoning purposes, • Coordinate with A+E team members for moderate to advanced CAD projects ensuring design accuracy, • Track project status to support management reporting, • Review, redline, and mentor junior engineers and designers to ensure accurate deliverables, • Communicate directly with project managers on client questions and forecasting, • Assist in training new hires within area of expertise, • Serve as Engineer of Record on applicable projects, • Perform site visits as needed to document field conditions, • May include tower climbing (optional), • Perform and review structural analyses of towers, antenna mounts, and related structures per building codes and standards, • Utilize engineering software including specialized and general-purpose finite element analysis (FEA) programs, • Develop new templates, tools, macros, and time-saving processes with the Engineering Manager, • Design and review structural modifications to increase capacity of structures and foundations, • Convert field notes, architectural/engineering sketches, or plans into working construction drawings using AutoCAD per client specifications, • Revise drawings per client and internal redlines, • Develop familiarity with client requirements to tailor drawing templates and preferences, • Perform detailed checking and redline work on supervised projects, • Lead medium-sized projects, managing timelines and deliverable quality, • Assist A+E Manager in developing templates, palettes, macros, and process efficiencies, • Proficient in RISA 3D, TNX Tower, or similar finite element software, • Proficiency with AutoCAD preferred, • Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills, • Effective communication with internal engineering and project management teams, • Knowledge of telecom-related civil engineering standards and codes, • Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, • Bachelor’s degree in civil, Mechanical, or related Engineering field required, • Structural engineering emphasis preferred, • E.I.T. certification preferred, • 2–5 years of telecom structural or CAD experience preferred, or 3–6 years of applicable engineering experience
