Role: Quality & Compliance Manager Location: Heartbeat UK headquarters / factory — with site visits as required Hours: Monday–Thursday 08:00–17:00; Friday 08:00–13:00 Type: Full-time preferred, but part-time / flexible arrangement possible Reporting to: Managing Director About Heartbeat UK Heartbeat is a growing manufacturing / shopfitting business committed to delivering exceptional quality, reliability, and service to its clients. As part of our continuous improvement and customer confidence strategy, we are establishing a dedicated Quality & Compliance Manager role to strengthen our credentials, systems and practices. This role is pivotal to ensuring we operate to the highest standards, maintain accreditations, and embed a culture of “right first time” across all phases of our operations. Purpose of Role The Quality & Compliance Manager will lead and manage all quality, compliance, and accreditation activities across the business—spanning design, manufacturing, site works, installation, and aftercare. You will ensure that our ISO standards and other certifications are not only maintained but evolved, that we deliver on key performance metrics (e.g. OTIF, right first time, cost of quality), and that continuous improvement is driven through structured reporting, trend analysis, and stakeholder engagement. You will act as a support, coach, and driver of improvements—working with all functions of the business, not as a fault finder but a partner to deliver better performance. You will report directly to the MD and will present your analyses, findings, and proposals to leadership and external stakeholders as needed. Key Responsibilities & Activities Accreditation, Systems & Compliance • Plan, organise and coordinate internal audits, external audits, surveillance audits, and recertification, • Maintain all system documentation (policies, procedures, manuals, work instructions), • Ensure document control, versioning, approval workflows, and change management, • Monitor regulatory and industry developments, and drive updates to systems accordingly Data, Metrics & Reporting • Ensure all data is accurate, timely, and well-validated — across factory, site, installation, • Trend analysis: root-cause, risk assessment, KPIs, highlight improvement opportunities, • Drive and propose efficiency, lean initiatives, process improvements, • Share reports and insights with MD, business leadership, and external stakeholders Operational Support & Site Oversight • Visit sites and projects to inspect quality from point of order through to installation, • Ensure compliance, correct workmanship, snagging resolution, handover quality, • Support and assist production, engineers, site teams in quality issue resolution, • Liaise with production, procurement, project management, engineering, operations, • Help embed quality / compliance awareness among all teams Employee & Training Compliance • Maintain training matrix, employee records, competency records, evidence of training, • Monitor and record site-specific certifications (e.g. CSCS, SMSTS if required), • Ensure that all employees are aware of quality, HSE, environmental obligations Leadership & Stakeholder Management • Be the primary contact for external certifying and auditing bodies, • Present findings, improvement proposals, audit results to MD / leadership, • Engage with customers / stakeholders concerning audit, compliance, and quality matters, • Work with leadership to prioritise improvement actions and resource allocation Essential Experience, Skills & Attributes • Proven experience (typically 5+ years, or equivalent) in a quality / compliance / systems role in a manufacturing, shopfitting, construction or similar environment, • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and experience maintaining / auditing these standards, • Experience managing or coordinating external audits (certification / surveillance), • Excellent reporting ability: producing accurate, meaningful dashboards, trends, root-cause insights, • Comfortable working on the shopfloor and on-site, not only in an office environment, • Good interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively with teams, support and coach, • Structured, organised, methodical, and detail-oriented, • Adaptable and able to travel to sites when required Nice to Have (Desirable) • Auditor qualification(s), e.g. Lead Auditor, Internal Auditor certifications, • Health & Safety qualifications, e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent, • Site / construction certifications, e.g. CSCS card, SMSTS or equivalent, • Experience with Lean / Six Sigma / continuous improvement methodologies, • Experience in shopfitting, interior fit-out, or modular manufacturing Remuneration • Competitive salary (depending on experience) £40,000, • Pension contributions, • Flexible / part-time working arrangements possible, • Development opportunities, training, accreditation support, • Company culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and support How to Apply Please send your CV + a short cover letter explaining your relevant experience, your approach to quality & compliance, and your expectations regarding part-time / flexible arrangements to
