The Board has permissive powers to undertake water management activities within their Internal Drainage District. The purpose of delivering this work is to reduce flood risk to people and property and to manage water in a way that meets the local needs of business and agriculture whilst also dealing with its obligations and commitments to the environment. The Board maintains an arterial drainage network and exercises a general power of supervision over all matters relating to water level management within their district whilst conducting their work in accordance with a number of general environmental duties and promoting the ecological wellbeing of their districts. The Board is newly constituted Board (order made January 2026, effective April 2026) further to the amalgamation of three pre-existing Boards who have worked together since 2001 from their shared base in Stewartby, Bedfordshire. Role Overview The role is focused on leading expert proactive engagement with new development and third-party works within the Board’s catchment including major developments such as urban expansions, Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects and Universal Studios. The post holder will be responsible for leading the Board’s regulatory role, ensuring that development is carried out sustainably within the Boards’ Drainage District and upland catchment area. Quality Assurance Officer (6‑Month Contract) - Pharmaceuticals - Bedford Smart4 Sciences is working with a respected pharmaceutical supplier to recruit a Quality Assurance Officer. This full‑time 6-month contract role sits within a close‑knit QA team and offers hands‑on involvement in GMP compliance, quality systems, and key operational processes. Role Overview As a Quality Assurance Officer, you will play a central role in maintaining GMP standards and supporting the company's Quality Management System. You will oversee PQS trackers, review and update SOPs, manage deviations, CAPAs, complaints, and change controls, and ensure timely resolution of quality issues. The role also involves conducting investigations, supporting audits, responding to MHRA notifications, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across departments. Key Responsibilities Maintain PQS trackers and ensure closure of deviations, CAPAs, complaints, and change controls Lead investigations and root cause analysis, producing clear reports Draft, review, and update SOPs and QA documentation Support supplier and vendor approvals, including technical agreements and compliance checks for APIs and excipients Monitor MHRA alerts and contribute to improvement projects Provide QA support across teams, attending meetings and resolving quality concerns Candidate Profile We are looking for a detail‑oriented professional with: A background in pharmaceuticals and GMP knowledge (QA experience advantageous) Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Experience in investigations and root cause analysis Excellent organizational skills and adaptability Eligibility to work in the UK on a permanent basis Why Join? Oversee payroll tax tasks including issuing P45s and P60s, payrolling benefits, and monthly HMRC submissions. Conduct payroll error checks and produce payroll reports for Finance as part of the pre‑commit process. Ensure timely completion of HMRC filings post‑commit, liaising closely with ADP. Respond promptly and sensitively to payroll queries, offering excellent colleague support. Administer contributory pension schemes and salary sacrifice benefits (e.g., childcare vouchers, cycle‑to‑work, tech schemes). Manage benefits in kind through payrolling. Maintain compliance with legislation, HMRC requirements, and internal policies. Keep accurate payroll records and generate required reports. Work collaboratively with People, Finance, and IT teams to support smooth payroll operations. Carry out National Minimum Wage checks and monitor compliance with hours worked. Produce ad‑hoc payroll reports and ONS data submissions. Manage the recovery of colleague overpayments. Calculate average holiday overtime payments in line with regulations.About You: Strong knowledge of UK payroll processes, HMRC legislation, and statutory requirements. High accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to handle confidential information sensitively.Beneficial: Experience with ADP iHCM.
