This role will take ownership of the company’s expense base, ensuring transparency, control, and actionable insights. The Senior Finance Analyst will be a key partner to all department teams to drive cost efficiency, optimise vendor spend, and strengthen controls across a complex multinational cost structure. This role will suit a finance analyst or a management accountant, looking to step up into a hands-on commercial/analytical role where you can really make a difference. Key Responsibilities Expense Management & Reporting • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual expense reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and insight., • Provide insightful analysis of expense movements against budget/forecast., • Analyse cost drivers, variances, and trends to provide clear commentary to senior leadership., • Manage accruals, prepayments, and allocation of costs across geographies and business lines., • Ensure control of headcount planning and open roles from a budget/forecast perspective, ensuring proposed recruitment is aligned with the plan. Business Partnering • Partner with all business departments and functions to track and challenge expenditure., • Provide forward-looking analysis and insights to help optimise operational efficiency., • Support procurement and vendor management processes with financial analysis of supplier costs. Forecasting & Budgeting • Lead the expense element of planning cycles (budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning)., • Provide scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis on key cost categories (e.g. Compensation)., • Deliver clear expense forecasts and identify risks/opportunities. Continuous Improvement • Identify opportunities for process automation and simplification in expense management., • Develop KPIs and dashboards to monitor cost efficiency across functions. Skills & Experience Required • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), or Part Qualified, • Strong experience in expense management, cost control, or FP&A in a multinational, Fintech, or high-volume business., • Solid technical grounding in accounting standards (IFRS) and expense recognition principles., • Strong financial modelling, Excel, and analytical skills; exposure to ERP and BI tools advantageous., • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders., • Commercial mindset with a focus on efficiency and continuous improvement. Role: Finance Manager Location: Remote, Manchester (hybrid) Type: Permanent Salary £60,000 - £70,000 + bonus, Private Health Medlock Partners are exclusively assisting our new client, a large international Distribution business with offices in the Manchester area as they look to appoint an ambitious Finance Manager on a permanent basis in a newly created role. Reporting to the UK Finance Director, the Finance Manager will oversee all financial operations within the business, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and profitability across all operational divisions. Key Responsibilities: Financial Management & Reporting • Be responsible for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/local accounting standards., • Manage the company’s budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes., • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to ensure efficient business operations., • Oversee and manage the annual financial audit, along with the preparation of all statutory accounts., • Ensure timely reconciliation of accounts and maintain an accurate general ledger. Operational & Cost Control • Analyse cost structures related to freight operations, customs brokerage, other revenue streams, • Collaborate with operations teams to improve cost efficiency and margin performance., • Oversee the performance of the outsourced AP and AR functions to drive both standardisation and efficiency in services received., • Act as point of contact for company administration including legal, insurance, property, and other services. Compliance & Governance • Act as company secretary for all required legal and statutory filings, • Ensure compliance with local tax laws, customs regulations, and corporate financial policies including submission of VAT returns and overseeing Corporate tax returns., • Oversee credit control and ensure timely collection of receivables., • Maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions in accordance with company policies. Leadership & Strategy • Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team., • Support senior management in strategic planning and business decision-making., • Provide financial insights for investment decisions, expansion opportunities, and operational initiatives., • Drive the implementation standardisation within finance, and operational finance processes. Qualifications & Experience Essential: • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA etc.) or final year active studier with significant accounting experience., • Minimum 5 years of finance experience, ideally in a role supporting non-financial management in the logistics, freight forwarding or related industries, • Strong understanding of IFRS accounting standards, • Experience and understanding of ERP systems and MS Office, including Excel., • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated FICO & PS Consultant to join our well established Run SAP FICO Team to assist in the support of BAU activities across multiple Customers. The client is a remote business first; this role will require some client visits. Due to the nature of our client’s accounts Security Clearance is required for this role, so it would be suitable for those able to obtain SC clearance. This role requires a significant requirement to support Project Systems across multiple customers. Therefore, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a high level of understanding around Project Systems configuration and key operational procedures, supported with an evidenced history of supporting Project Systems. Additionally, you will have experience in any combination of the following SAP FICO modules: - AP / AR, Asset Accounting, Bank Accounting, Cost Centre Accounting, Product costing and Profit Centre Accounting. Experience in Treasury Management or Fiori an advantage.
