Linux Engineer - £60,000 - Bristol (On-site, 5 days/week) Join an international leader in technology services as a Unix/Linux Support Engineer, keeping critical systems running smoothly for a major defence programme. You'll be hands-on with Solaris (10 & 11, ideally 8 & 9 too) and Linux (Red Hat) environments, solving complex technical problems and making a real operational impact. What you'll do • Monitor, maintain, and support Unix/Linux systems in production & dev environments, • Resolve incidents, service requests, and system alerts in line with SLAs, • Perform patching, updates, and routine system checks to optimise performance & security, • Troubleshoot software, hardware, and connectivity issues for end-users, • Manage user accounts, permissions, file systems, and security best practices, • Write scripts (Bash/Python) to automate processes and improve efficiency, • Create and maintain technical documentation, • Proven Unix/Linux support & admin experience, • Solaris (10 & 11, ideally 8 & 9 too) + Linux Red Hat, • Scripting skills in Bash or Python, • Experience with Ansible, Docker/Mirantis/Podman, and VMware tools (VROPS a bonus), • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer service skills...
