33kV Cable Jointer\n\nUtility Scale Solar Farm Construction (UK)\n\nOur established client is looking for an experienced 33kv Jointer to support the delivery of utility‑scale solar, BESS, ICP works and ground‑mount projects throughout the Midlands and South Yorkshire\n\nPackage & Benefits\n\nPermanent Position\n\n Up to £65,000 basic\n\n Full Travel pay\n\n 26 days holiday + bank holidays\n\n Company van + fuel card\n\n 4% matched pension\n\n Private Health Insurance\n\n Death in Service\n\n £15/month phone allowance or company phone\n\nRole Overview\n\nThe 33kV Cable Jointer is responsible for delivering all high voltage jointing, terminations, testing, and commissioning activities across large scale ground mount solar farm projects (typically 20MW–300MW). This role ensures safe, compliant, and high quality installation of HV infrastructure, connecting inverters, transformers, and substations to the wider 33kV distribution network.\n\nThe position requires strong technical competence in HV jointing up to 33kV, experience working under DNO/IDNO standards, and the ability to operate within a fast paced construction environment alongside EPC, ICP, civil, and electrical teams.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n--33kV Jointing & Terminations--\n\nCarry out 33kV cable jointing, terminations, straight joints, branch joints, and sealing ends.\n\nInstall and terminate XLPE, PILC, and waveform cables in accordance with DNO/IDNO specifications.\n\nComplete HV terminations at transformers, RMUs, switchgear, and inverter stations.\n\nHV Infrastructure Installation\n\nSupport installation of HV substations, 33/11kV transformers, and RMU units.\n\nWork with EPC/ICP teams to integrate HV assets into the solar farm’s electrical design.\n\nEnsure correct installation of earthing systems, earth mats, and bonding.\n\n--Trenching, Ducting & Cable Routing--\n\nOversee trenching, ducting, and cable laying activities for HV routes across large solar sites.\n\nVerify correct depth, bedding, spacing, and marker tape placement.\n\nSupervise pulling and laying of large format cables (e.g., 185mm²–630mm², up to 33kV).\n\n--Testing, Inspection & Commissioning--\n\n Perform HV testing including:\n\n Pressure testing\n\n Insulation resistance\n\n Phasing checks\n\n Sheath testing\n\n Support energisation and commissioning with DNO/IDNO engineers.\n\n * Produce accurate test sheets, red line drawings, and as built documentation.\n\n-- Compliance, Safety & Quality--\n\nWork under permit to work, LOTO, and HV switching procedures.\n\nEnsure compliance with ENA TS, DNO standards, G99/G100, and BS 7671.\n\nMaintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and environmental control.\n\nRequired Experience\n\nProven experience as a 33kV Cable Jointer on DNO/IDNO networks.\n\nBackground in utility scale solar, renewables, ICP works, or power distribution.\n\nStrong understanding of HV/LV distribution systems, transformers, and switchgear.\n\nExperience working on large construction sites with multiple contractors.\n\nQualifications & Certifications\n\nDNO/IDNO authorised 33kV Jointer (UKPN, WPD, ENWL, SPEN, SSEN, etc.)\n\nEUSR or equivalent HV Jointing certification\n\nCSCS/ECS card (Gold/Black preferred)\n\n33kV Recommendation or Competency Course\n\nG99/G100 awareness\n\nFull UK driving licence\n\nKey Skills\n\n33kV jointing & terminations\n\nHV testing & commissioning\n\nSolar farm HV integration\n\nTrenching & cable routing\n\nSwitchgear & transformer installation\n\nEarthing & bonding\n\nStrong understanding of DNO/IDNO standards\n\nAbility to work safely under permit to work and HV isolation procedures
