LNER is looking for a data-driven, commercially minded analyst to lead the insight and research foundation of our Fares Reform Programme, one of the Secretary of State's top five deliverables and a key strategic priority for LNER. This high-impact role will shape how we simplify fares, deliver fairer prices for customers, and drive incremental revenue to support LNER's long-term commercial goals. Reporting to the Revenue Optimisation Analysis and Insights Lead, you'll own the programme's analytical agenda, transforming complex datasets into clear, actionable insights. With your excellent communication skills, you will influence and empower senior internal and external stakeholders, guiding decision-making across LNER and the wider rail industry aligned with the Programme's vision. You'll also scope and oversee research activity, ensuring all proposals are data-led, customer-focused, and commercially robust. Alongside this, you'll help build and strengthen LNER's analytical framework within the Revenue Optimisation & Strategy team, developing dashboards, reports, and data processes that support a test-and-learn culture and deliver measurable revenue growth. Within this role you'll also be involved in; • Lead the analysis for LNER's Fares Reform Programme, assessing commercial, customer, and operational impacts of proposals., • Build and maintain data models to simulate project outcomes, ensuring initiatives deliver a robust return on investment., • Support business case development for commercial projects, providing credible insights that drive revenue growth and customer benefits., • Act as the data expert during approval boards and stakeholder meetings, clearly communicating analytical findings and influencing decisions., • Scope and lead data analytics requirements for projects, including dashboards, processes, and externally commissioned research., • Manage commercial datasets (e.g., LENNON, RARS) using ETL and visualization tools (Alteryx, AWS Glue, Tableau) to deliver actionable insights., • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and statistical robustness in all analyses., • Collaborate with internal and industry colleagues to validate findings and ensure LNER's insights are recognised in wider analysis., • Conduct regular programme reviews, reporting on commercial performance, customer satisfaction, and revenue impact., • Tailor communication of results to diverse audiences, including internal teams, executives, and external stakeholders such as DfT, RDG, and other TOCs., • Support the Revenue Optimisation & Strategy team in developing dashboards, monitoring strategy initiatives, and fostering a data-driven, test-and-learn culture. What you'll need: • Analytical and Commercial Expertise: Highly numerate with proven analytical skills, able to leverage complex data to drive commercial decisions and strategic direction., • Data and Technology Skills: Advanced user of ETL and visualization tools (e.g., Alteryx, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, Tableau, Power BI) to transform large datasets into actionable insights and clear storytelling. Experience with SQL or Python is desirable., • Stakeholder Management & Communication: Excellent communicator with the ability to present complex information simply and influence decision-making at all levels, including senior external stakeholders (DfT, RDG, FTR)., • Project & Organisational Skills: Strong attention to detail, able to prioritise and manage competing workloads, and work effectively across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment., • Teamwork & Collaboration: Effective team player and collaborator, capable of engaging, influencing, and supporting colleagues to deliver business objectives., • Commercial & Sector Knowledge: Experience working with commercial data within the rail or travel sector, ideally with understanding of customer behaviours, travel patterns, revenue management, or ticketing systems., • Personal Drive: Self-motivated, agile, and adaptable, with a strong desire to learn, solve problems, and deliver results efficiently and effectively., • Technical Proficiency: Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and an ability to apply technology to improve processes and insights.
