Kennedys is looking for a Senior Associate to join the Property, Energy and Construction team in Manchester, in order to manage a varied caseload of matters covering the team's core areas. Team The Kennedys PEC team specialises in property, energy and construction insurance claims, assisting insurers and reinsurers of major multi-national companies in relation to their global exposures. We provide coverage advice and defend high-value, international and complex claims. Our highly-regarded lawyers are located across our integrated international network of offices, delivering a seamless legal service. The property damage team dovetails with our specialist experience in construction and energy both of which have excellent records for innovative, commercially aware specialist advice. We also handle civil unrest claims both under all risks and specific SRCC/political violence policies. We provide clients with a full service in relation to their property claims, from coverage advice, defence of third party property damage claims and subrogated recoveries. We have been instructed on some of the market's most high profile matters Key Responsibilities • Manage a varied caseload of complex and high-value property coverage and recovery claims, including major loss and business interruption matters., • Advise insurers, reinsurers and corporate clients on all aspects of property damage, policy coverage, and subrogated recovery actions., • Draft and review legal documents including advices, pleadings, and settlement agreements with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail., • Supervise and mentor junior team members, providing guidance, feedback and support in line with Kennedys’ collaborative culture., • Engage directly with clients, building and maintaining strong relationships through clear communication and commercially focused advice., • Work closely with partners on complex cases, major loss investigations, and strategic client development initiatives. Required experience • 5+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) gained within a reputable law firm, ideally with a focus on property insurance, coverage, or recovery work., • Strong technical background in property damage, policy coverage, and subrogated recovery claims, with experience advising insurers and/or large corporates., • Proven ability to manage a busy and varied caseload independently, while supporting and supervising junior colleagues., • Excellent legal drafting, analytical and negotiation skills, with a keen eye for detail and commercial awareness., • Confident communicator with the ability to build and maintain client relationships and deliver clear, practical advice., • Experience working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and across offices or jurisdictions., • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a genuine interest in the property and insurance sectors.
