Cutting-edge fabless chip design start-up developing next gen AI chips based in Edinburgh or Cambridge. This is a unique opportunity to join a UK start-up that has recently secured significant funding following several years of groundbreaking innovation by its co-founders. I am looking for Graduate Engineers to join a Silicon team as either a Digital Design or Verification Engineer. Candidates should have an outstanding educational background, including A-levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, or Computer Science, and hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electronic Engineering from a top-tier UK university. Key Responsibilities • Assist in the design and development of digital RTL blocks under guidance from senior engineers, • Contribute to microarchitecture definition by analysing specifications and documenting design decisions, • Write clean, synthesisable RTL in Verilog or SystemVerilog for small to medium-sized logic blocks, • Perform basic verification of RTL using simulation tools, including writing simple testbenches and assertions, • Assist in debugging functional, timing, or implementation-related problems with support from the design team, • Participate in design reviews, presenting work clearly and incorporating feedback, • Collaborate closely with architects, verification engineers, and physical design teams to ensure smooth handover through the full ASIC flow, • Learn and adopt best practices for low-power design, high-speed design., • Support tool flows and automation by writing simple scripts (Python, TCL, etc.) to improve design productivity Ideal Qualifications • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, • Strong understanding of digital logic design, computer architecture, and basic hardware design principles, • Familiarity with RTL design using Verilog or SystemVerilog (university, internship, or project experience), • Knowledge of hardware description languages, simulation concepts, and basic verification methods, • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Tcl, or Bash, • Familiarity with EDA tools (ModelSim, Questa, VCS, Vivado, Synopsys, or Cadence) through coursework or internships is beneficial, • Good problem-solving skills and an ability to debug issues methodically., • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment, • A genuine interest in semiconductor technology, chip design, and continuous learning As a start-up, you can expect an attractive compensation package, including shares, performance and company bonuses, and a competitive base salary.
