Job DescriptionLHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a company in Suffolk County to identify a Full-Charge Construction Bookkeeper. This could be a temp to hire or direct hire opportunity and can pay $100K+ for the ideal candidate Position Summary Manage end-to-end accounting operations and construction-specific billing, reporting, and compliance. This role is responsible for payroll processing and tax compliance, HR/benefits administration, insurance and risk management, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and construction billing documentation (including AIA billing, retainage, and lien waivers). The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable handling multiple deadlines throughout the year, and experienced coordinating with an outsourced CPA for audits and compliance needs. Key Responsibilities Payroll & Tax Compliance • Process weekly payroll, • Submit weekly payroll tax payments, • Prepare and file quarterly payroll tax filings, • Prepare and file year-end W-2 and W-3, • Prepare and file 1099 and 1096, • Produce certified payroll reports, • Prepare NYS Highway Use Tax filings, • Track and report company vehicle mileageHuman Resources & Benefits Administration, • Support onboarding for new employees, • Process employee reimbursements, • Administer health insurance plans (medical, dental, vision), • Support annual benefits renewal, • Administer 401(k), • Add employees to insurance driver lists, • Track and maintain Personal and Sick Paid Time OffInsurance & Risk Management, • Manage general liability insurance, • Manage workers' compensation insurance, • Manage auto liability and vehicle insurance, • Handle accident reports and claims, • Support insurance audits, • Determine and track project insurance structure (CCIP vs. traditional insurance), • Verify and maintain insurance compliance requirements by project type, • Manage documentation related to project insurance programs, • Coordinate insurance requirements with carriers, brokers, and project stakeholders, • Support audit and compliance requests related to project insurance classificationAccounting Operations, • Manage accounts payable (AP), • Manage accounts receivable (AR), • Match invoices to packing slips, • Deposit checks, • Perform bank reconciliations, • Perform credit card reconciliationsConstruction Billing, Reporting & Compliance, • Prepare AIA billing, • Manage contract revisions and change orders, • Track retainage and process reduction requests, • Notarize lien waivers, • Prepare prequalification submittals for general contractors, • Produce monthly Work In Progress (CWIP) reports for both companies, • Classify project tax status (tax-exempt vs. capital improvement vs. taxable work), • Maintain supporting documentation (including ST-120) for audits and complianceFinancial & Regulatory Audits, • Support multiple audits throughout the year, • Coordinate with outsourced CPA, • Support audit/compliance documentation requests as neededQualifications (Required), • Full-cycle construction bookkeeping experience covering payroll, AP/AR, reconciliations, and construction billing/reporting, • Experience with AIA billing, change orders, retainage tracking, and lien waivers, • Working knowledge of payroll tax filings and year-end reporting (W-2/W-3, 1099/1096), • Experience supporting audits and coordinating with external CPA resources, • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlinesPreferred Qualifications, • Experience with certified payroll reporting, • Familiarity with NYS Highway Use Tax filings, • Experience managing insurance documentation and project insurance structures (CCIP vs. traditional), • Experience producing monthly WIP/CWIP reports and maintaining tax-exempt/capital improvement documentationWork Environment / Notes Pay Details: $100,000.00 to $110,000.00 per year Search managed by: Ginny Butindari Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled Military connected talent encouraged to apply To read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please navigate to The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable: • The California Fair Chance Act, • Los Angeles City Fair Chance Ordinance, • Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers, • San Francisco Fair Chance OrdinanceMassachusetts Candidates Only: It is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment.
