Job Description Good Samaritan Home of Quincy is looking for a Head Cook to join our growing team! The right candidate will have experience as a cook and have the ability to organize and multi-task. Your main task will be to prepare food in a safe, sanitary way by current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations. Pay Range: $19.06 - $21.06 Benefits • 1 Full-Time Opening - 11:30am - 8:00pm and every other weekend required -, • PTO Benefits, • Weekend Premium, • Health Insurance including Blessing Be Well At Work Program, • Dental, • Vision, • 401K, • Employee Assistance Program, • Holiday Premium, • Paid Bereavement Responsibilities: • Prepares and portions food items for the daily meals on a routine basis., • Assure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies and procedures., • Serves meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance., • Oversees food preparation and sanitation in the production area on a daily basis (Head Cook only)., • Serves as department supervisor overseeing department operations on the evening shift and on the weekend (Head Cook only)., • Prepares food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus., • Prepares food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders., • Prepares meals in accordance with planned menus., • Prepares meals in a timely manner., • Assist in daily cleaning duties in accordance with established policies and procedures. Qualifications: • Must possess and maintain a state approved Food Service Sanitation Certificate (Head Cook)., • Must possess and maintain a state approved Food Service Sanitation Certificate or an approved Food Handlers Course Certificate (Assistant Cook and Baker)., • Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English in an understandable manner and be able to follow oral and written instructions., • Must be able to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public., • Must possess leadership ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with staff., • Must be able to develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents., • Must create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department., • Must be able to lift loads in excess of 25 lbs. and perform a variety of physical requirements including balancing, crouching, fingering, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and twisting. Job requires repetitive movements and standing for long periods of time.
