Senior Accountant Position Summary: The primary function of this role is to support the oversight of accounting operations, including financial reporting, cash receipt and payment processing, account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulations. Responsibilities: • Apply expertise in general bookkeeping, including journal entries, debits and credits., • Manage direct bill commission processes with accuracy and efficiency., • Perform daily accounting tasks such as entering bills, creating invoices, and reconciling bank accounts., • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ensure proper handling of all transactions., • Support internal, external, and insurance-related audits by providing necessary financial documentation., • Monitor, record, and document all financial transactions in a timely manner., • Prepare and file surplus lines filings., • Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including reconciliation of general ledger, AP, and AR accounts., • Ensure timely and accurate payment of bills in compliance with departmental procedures., • Maintain and reconcile books of accounts, including regular transaction processing and account maintenance., • Generate and distribute financial and operational reports through the agency management system, Applied Epic., • May eventually manage a bookkeeper to ensure consistent financial operations., • Minimal travel may be required., • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field highly desired, • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with bookkeeping principles and accounting practices, • Prior accounting experience in the insurance industry is preferred, • Demonstrated ability to meet recurring monthly processing deadlines, • Proficient with Microsoft 365 Suite and other relevant financial systems, • Willingness to learn Applied Epic Agency Management System, • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy, • Strong organizational and time management abilities, • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Frequently sit, stand and walk, • Regularly required to talk or hear, • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds Office Location: 875 North Kingshighway St, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701 (Hybrid Work Options Available) Benefits: • Salary Commensurate with Experience, • Health Insurance Plans (PPO, HSA, Copay Options), • Dental Insurance, • Vision Insurance, • Company Paid Disability Insurance, • Supplemental Insurance including Critical Illness, Accident, Legal, Pet Insurance, • 401(k) with Safe Harbor Match, • Paid Time Off
