Job DescriptionSalary: $19.50- $24.61 Position Summary: Ensure the wellness of youth and families through supportive, direct childcare services and ensuring a safe, secure, and calm environment. The Intake Specialist works as a vital member of the care team to act as a mentor, coach, and support to those in a direct care position. The Intake Specialist works closely with Program Administrators and Unit Supervisors to prepare for and complete Intake procedure for all youth new to the program. Make it happen., • Acts in the capacity of the designated point of contact for new intakes entering the Caminos Program, duties to include (but not limited to): ensuring completion of steps to prepare unit to receive new intakes, greeting new intakes upon arrival and providing each youth with a warm welcome to the program, processing the admission of the youth in the UC portal and securing belongings of the new arrivals for Care Team staff to process and inventory., • Assists with the preparation and coordination of resident discharges by completing required discharge documentation, reviewing required documentation with the resident, processing the discharge of the resident from the UC portal, and generating UC portal discharge documentation including the Verification of Release form., • Consistently implements each residents programming in an individualized manner, implementing safety and guidance plans as applicable to provide additional support and ensures the completion of all documentation related to resident progress and activities., • Coaches and mentors direct care staff to engage in supportive conversations with youth and their role as a positive, consistent support in the recovery from complex trauma. Encourages actions in a calm, respectful, and patient manner., • Utilizes and mentors direct care staff to implement specialized training provided to prevent and support youth that are experiencing acting out behavior. This training includes but is not limited to: Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Trauma Informed Care / National Traumatic Stress Network modules, Integrated Treatment and Prevention of Sexual Abuse and Harassment concepts., • Encourages the establishment of a safe, secure, and calm milieu through supporting the direct care staff in completion of the unit routines and schedules, as well as unit systems for cleanliness, supplies, recreation, etc. Working with the care team, support the wellness of the youth through identifying and supporting the health, medical, educational, spiritual needs of the youth to create a trauma sensitive milieu. The goal is to create an environment that avoids triggering their unregulated emotions whenever possible., • In order to assist the youth in regulating their emotions when they are unable, the Intake Specialist must be self-aware and is responsible for teaching the youth how to manage these difficult situations. Intake Specialists assist with developing interventions that include alternative pathways to seclusion or restraint., • In collaboration with the unit supervisor and therapist, participates in the development and facilitation of weekly life skills and acculturation groups. Supports and mentors direct care staff to understand the value of life skills and acculturation groups and encourages direct care staff to participate in the identification of subject matter for these group sessions., • Demonstrates understanding of how the Caminos Program works alongside other programs across the agency to support the orientation of youth and care team members. Able to demonstrate how the alignment of services supports treatment and how residential fits within the treatment services., • Administers medication according to physician and/or nurses orders and documents the medication administration record (MAR)., • Demonstrate effective communication and leadership that contributes to the ability to teach a mentor direct care staff and supports Everstands central goal, team work always., • Demonstrates knowledge of and familiarity with both Everstand and Office of Refugee Resettlement Policy and Procedures relating to the care and supervision of Unaccompanied Children. This includes knowledge of legal background and authority governing the practice as related to working with Unaccompanied Children., • Demonstrates the ability to ensure the appropriate staff support for campus, while minimizing and/or eliminating overtime., • Provides safe transportation in agency vehicles for residents to keep scheduled appointments as required., • Provides mandatory on-call coverage. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. In the nature of being in a behavioral health treatment environment there may be times you experience conditions in which challenging behavior can be exhibited from our youth to include but not limited to, physical agitation, physical violence and/or emotion outburst. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. The hours may vary depending on shift. Shift information is received from the Unit Supervisor. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work. This position is not eligible for flex schedule. This position is essential during snow emergencies. Travel Provides safe transportation in agency vehicles for residents to keep scheduled appointments as required. Required Education and Experience • High School diploma or equivalency plus 3 years of working with youth in social service setting, • Ability to effectively express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing; computer literate., • Able to develop effective behavioral interventions and strategic using sound, objective decision making., • Ability to organize staffing and therapeutic programming., • Able to engage children in positive decision making., • Ability to supervise staff to ensure they engage children in a positive and effective manner., • Able to work cooperatively with others., • Able to learn and effectively utilize different technology platforms., • Excellent computer use knowledge with Microsoft Windows 10 and 365 Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook., • Proven effective time management, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills., • Ability to problem solve., • Ability to work independently., • Ability to keep an electronic calendar (Outlook)., • Ability to pass TCI certification both at employee orientation and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter., • Ability to pass CPR/First aid certification both at employee orientation and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter., • Ability to demonstrate the possession of a valid drivers license prior to employment and ability to maintain the license and operate a motor vehicle thereafter., • Ability to pass CPS/UII background check both prior to employment and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter., • Ability to pass a Tuberculosis Screening both prior to employment and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter. (WV - applicable; PA - not applicable), • Ability to pass a work-readiness physical performed by a certified medical professional both prior to employment and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter., • Ability to pass a Federal and State Fingerprinting Background Check both prior to employment and per the schedule outlined by HR thereafter., • Ability to pass a drug screen via urinalysis both prior to employment and randomly thereafter., • Ability to pass a federal suitability determination investigation initiated after hire and updated every five years in accordance with federal regulations., • Completion of all required ORR-mandated trainings, including but not limited to: trauma-informed care, cultural competency, PSA standards, mandatory reporting, and confidentiality protections.
