Job Overview & Responsibilities Reporting to the Director of Arts, the Arts Program Coordinator is responsible for organizing, supporting, and tracking the functions of the LAs BEST Arts Department. This includes coordinating professional teaching artist residencies, assemblies, field trips, culminating events, and professional development opportunities for LAs BEST staff. The Arts Program Coordinator contributes to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of arts-based learning experiences that support positive youth development and equitable access to creative opportunities across LAs BEST sites. Core responsibilities may include: Program Design, Quality, & Implementation (approximately35%): • Design, adapt, and document arts curricula (visual, performing, and media arts) that align with LAs BESTs mission, LAUSD program standards, and equity goals., • Collaborate with Site Coordinators and program staff to ensure consistent, high-quality facilitation of arts-based learning experiences., • Support site staff in modeling effective arts instruction and classroom management strategies that foster creativity, belonging, and youth development., • Develop and distribute toolkits, program plans, and other resources to strengthen program delivery and staff capacity., • Support the Director of Arts to monitor program fidelity and quality through site visits, evaluations, and continuous improvement processes. Partnerships, Events, & Community Engagement (approximately 25%): • Partner with the Director of Arts to coordinate partnerships with teaching artists, arts organizations, and community partners to deliver residencies, assemblies, and workshops., • Ensure alignment of partner programming with organizational objectives, ensuring adherence to LAs BEST and LAUSD standards and protocols., • Support the planning and execution of culminating events, showcases, and exhibitions that highlight student creativity and community impact., • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications and Development departments to capture stories, visuals, and outcomes for public and funder engagement. Program Data, Reporting, & Evaluation Support (approximately 20%): • Assist the Director of Arts in maintaining accurate and up-to-date program records, partner documentation, and site participation data., • Support the collection, organization, and initial analysis of data related to program reach, student engagement, and outcomes., • Contribute to internal and external reporting by providing summaries, data pulls, and qualitative highlights for funders and stakeholders., • Participate in regular evaluation and reflection processes with the Director of Arts and the Evaluation department to identify successes, trends, and improvement areas. Departmental Coordination & Administrative Support (approximately 20%): • Support the Director of Arts in planning and implementing professional development and technical assistance opportunities for staff and teaching artists., • Assist with coordinating training logistics, materials preparation, attendance tracking, and follow-up communications., • Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to support arts integration and organizational initiatives as directed by the Director of Arts., • Uphold LAs BEST policies, LAUSD requirements, and departmental procedures while contributing to the overall success of arts initiatives. Core Competencies • Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance., • Effectively organizes and supports arts-based programming across multiple sites, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and LAUSD standards., • Demonstrates the ability to design, adapt, and problem-solve creatively to deliver engaging, high-quality arts experiences for youth., • Builds strong, respectful working relationships with site staff, teaching artists, partners, and cross-departmental teams to achieve shared outcomes., • Applies an inclusive lens to programming, ensuring equitable access to arts experiences that reflect and celebrate the diversity of Los Angeles communities., • Communicates clearly, professionally, and with cultural sensitivity across written, verbal, and digital platforms., • Manages multiple priorities, timelines, and administrative processes with accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail., • Gathers, organizes, and interprets program data to support evaluation and continuous quality improvement., • Adjusts effectively to evolving priorities, shifting schedules, and emerging opportunities within a dynamic environment., • Works collaboratively under the direction of the Director of Arts while taking initiative to anticipate needs, solve problems, and strengthen departmental impact., • Demonstrates enthusiasm for LAs BESTs mission to provide safe, enriching, and equitable learning opportunities that nurture childrens creativity and growth. Qualifications & Experience Requirements • An associate's degree in arts education, education, youth development, or a related field is required. Equivalent years of directly related experience in arts programming, expanded learning, or youth-serving organizations may be substituted for formal education., • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting or coordinating programs in arts education, community arts, or out-of-school enrichment settings preferred., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Compensation $59,048.00 - $85,620.00; commensurate with experience. Work Location This position is required onsite Monday through Friday, primarily working from the LAs BESTs Central Operations office from 9:00AM to 6:00PM, including a 1-hour unpaid meal period. Due to occasional evening and weekend work that may be required throughout the year, candidates must be willing to work an alternate weekly schedule that will allow attendance at weekend training and events. Candidates must also be able to regularly travel to LAs BEST school sites and have access to reliable and timely transportation.
