Job Description Position Summary The Housing & Employment Specialist plays a dual role in supporting residents to achieve housing stability and economic self-sufficiency. This position combines housing navigation, landlord engagement, and lease-up coordination with workforce development, job placement, and employer partnerships. The Specialist works closely with residents to secure stable housing, gain employment, and build long-term independence, while collaborating with community partners, landlords, and employers to expand opportunities for justice-impacted individuals. Core Responsibilities Housing Stabilization & Navigation • Serve as primary point of contact for residents seeking housing support, • Assess housing needs, barriers, and available resources; develop individualized housing plans, • Coordinate lease-up process, landlord negotiations, and housing applications, • Build and maintain relationships with landlords, property managers, and housing providers, • Identify and secure affordable and supportive housing opportunities, • Assist residents with documentation, applications, and reasonable accommodation requests, • Support residents with move-in planning (deposits, utilities, financial assistance), • Monitor housing stability, assist with lease renewals, violations, and recertifications, • Maintain accurate housing case notes, files, and reporting (including subsidies and assistance tracking), • Support residents with job readiness, placement, and career pathway development, • Assess resident skills, interests, and employment barriers, • Assist with resume development, applications, and interview preparation, • Match residents with employment opportunities, training programs, and certifications, • Develop and maintain relationships with local employers and workforce partners, • Conduct employer outreach, including cold calls and partnership development, • Facilitate job readiness workshops and employment-focused group sessions, • Track job placements, retention, and employment outcomes, • Stay informed on local labor market trends and hiring needs, • Provide holistic, trauma-informed support aligned with housing and employment goals, • Coordinate with case managers, service providers, and support systems, • Provide resource navigation (transportation, financial assistance, referrals), • Maintain timely communication with residents, staff, and partners, • Track and document resident progress in housing and employment plans, • Develop and sustain partnerships with housing providers, employers, and community organizations, • Collaborate on program design, workshops, and service delivery improvements, • Maintain accurate data tracking, reporting, and documentation, • Support workshops related to financial literacy, tenant readiness, and employment skills, • Minimum 3–5 years experience in housing navigation, workforce development, or related field, • Experience working with justice-impacted, formerly incarcerated, or vulnerable populations, • Strong knowledge of housing systems, employment services, and community resources, • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with landlords, employers, and service providers, • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), • Experience in re-entry, transitional housing, or homelessness services, • Knowledge of local Bay Area housing and workforce systems, • Experience facilitating workshops or group sessions, • Trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach, • Strong relationship-building and advocacy skills, • Ability to balance high accountability with compassion, • Initiative, flexibility, and solution-oriented mindset, • Full-time, in-person role, • Flexible schedule based on resident and program needs, • Benefits may include: health, dental, vision, PTO, and retirement options
