Job DescriptionJob Title: Journeyman Electrician Job Description We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to join our team in various locations across Michigan, including Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Whitehall, Traverse City, and Petoskey. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining electrical systems in both new builds and service settings. Responsibilities • Install feeder and branch conduit and wiring, including EMT, IMC, Rigid, PVC, and PVC Coated Rigid, by bending, cutting, and threading all sizes and types., • Troubleshoot electrical components such as transformers, motors, panels, and circuits., • Install electrical systems including switch gears, motor control centers, electrical panels, fire alarms, conveyor, lighting, and power systems., • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits using devices such as ohmmeters or voltmeters to ensure compatibility and safety., • Read blueprints including MEP drawings, architectural specs, schematics, plan details, wiring diagrams, and submittals., • Direct or train workers to install electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures., • Diagnose malfunctioning systems or components using test equipment and hand tools to locate and correct problems., • Maintain current electrician's license to meet governmental regulations., • Provide customers with prompt and professional service., • Submit complete work orders with proper information to the office daily., • Maintain proper inventory on service truck and keep it organized., • Operate and maintain company truck and tooling professionally., • Coordinate and schedule work with Account or Project Managers., • Purchase materials and equipment to perform duties., • Contact customers for needed clarification and coordination of requirements., • Plan and execute tasks presented.Essential Skills, • Journeyman Electrician License from the State of Michigan., • At least 5 years of experience in electrician and apprentice work in commercial or industrial settings., • Valid driver's license and ability to provide own transportation to the job site., • Experience with high voltage systems up to 480v., • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with working knowledge of electrical systems., • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions., • Exceptional problem-solving skills, professionalism, and integrity., • Customer service experience for service technicians.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience leading crews or running jobs., • Foreman experience., • Ability to work with a team of 2-20 people.Why Work Here? Work Environment Work primarily occurs in commercial or industrial buildings and construction sites. The standard work schedule is first shift from 7 am to 3:30 pm, with an expectation of 40-50 hours per week. Some projects require different shift patterns such as 5 eight-hour shifts or 4 ten-hour shifts. Travel may be required, with travel pay and per diem provided for out-of-town assignments. Our offices are located in Kalamazoo, Wayland, Big Rapids, Whitehall, Traverse City, Petoskey, and Midland. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
