Travel Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) – Job Description Location: All over U.S. Various contract lengths Overview A Travel Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) supports healthcare facilities across multiple locations by installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of medical equipment. This role requires strong technical expertise, adaptability, and the ability to work independently while traveling to hospitals, clinics, and specialty care centers. Key Responsibilities • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on medical devices to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards., • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair biomedical equipment including patient monitors, infusion pumps, defibrillators, ventilators, and other clinical devices., • Respond to service calls across assigned regions, often on short notice, to minimize equipment downtime., • Document all maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and equipment performance in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements., • Install and configure new medical equipment, ensuring proper operation and user readiness., • Collaborate with clinical staff to provide technical support, equipment training, and operational guidance., • Maintain inventory of tools, test equipment, and spare parts while traveling., • Ensure compliance with safety standards, manufacturer guidelines, and regulatory bodies such as The Joint Commission., • Experience servicing a variety of medical devices in a clinical environment., • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills., • Ability to travel extensively, including overnight stays., • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record., • Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements for medical equipment., • OEM or military biomedical training., • Certification such as CBET, CLES, or CRES., • Associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent military training)., • Experience with networked medical devices and basic IT connectivity., • Ability to lift and move equipment (typically up to 50 lbs)., • Comfortable working in hospitals, clinics, labs, and emergency care environments., • Frequent travel by car or air.
