Job Description Congressional Country Club PGA Teaching Professional Position Criteria Summary Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, is seeking an experienced Teaching Professional to join our golf team. This person will be an integral part of the team at Congressional, teaching and coaching private lessons while also assisting in day-to-day operations within the instructional team, including junior golf and group classes. The ideal candidate possesses a strong passion for the game, a keen interest in working with a team, coaching, junior golf, and is a lifelong learner. The candidate will work directly with the golf team to assist with golf lessons, junior golf, golf clinics, and teach members of all abilities. The Opportunity • The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Instructional and Golf teams in their growth and to achieve unfounded levels of excellence., • The successful candidate must possess the ability to coach players of all abilities and provide golf lessons and club fittings when needed., • The candidate will assist the Junior Golf Director in helping grow the game through junior golf at Congressional., • The Teaching Professional will assist in the daily operation of Congressional's new 8,000 square foot state-of-the-art Performance Center, equipped with a fitting bay and 7 total bays for member and instructional use., • It is imperative that the Teaching Professional has a passion for golf and possesses a growth mindset, and is a lifelong learner., • Personal character that personifies professionalism on and off the golf course., • Outgoing and engaging personality., • Energized by high activity levels and a heavy workload., • Approachable and positive demeanor., • Exhibits confidence and a natural ability to relate with others, enhancing each encounter., • Passion for growing the game of golf., • Motivated to provide a premier member experience., • A creative thinker., • Addresses problems with a "solution-based" A positive attitude when facing challenges., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills., • Possesses a servant's heart. A candidate for employment should be able, but not be limited to: • Assist the golf staff in the management of the Performance Center's daily operations., • Assist with Junior Golf daily., • Teach lessons and assist in clinics to players of all abilities, including but not limited to adults, juniors, beginners, and ladies., • Provide exceptional service before, during, and after lessons with members and follow up., • Assist in the day-to-day operation of the golf team., • Utilize Trackman and Swing Catalyst software and be proficient with current instructional technology., • Contribute communication platform between golf instruction and provide content for the membership., • Maintain any equipment and/or training aids that would be used on a day-to-day basis., • Maintain and manage the practice experience and effectiveness by being attentive to the Performance Center and practice facilities., • Attend all Athletic Department meetings., • Report to the Director of Instruction, • Assist the Director of Junior Golf, the Director of Instruction, and the Golf team in the day-to-day operations of the club., • Assist the instructional team with administration duties when needed., • Shadow and learn from instructors on staff., • Attend the PGA Show and other industry conferences., • Participate in various club-wide team opportunities., • Maintain regular, open contact with both supervisors and staff instructors to ensure teamwork and consistency in teaching programs., • If an LPGA or PGA Member, maintain PGA of America membership in good standing and mentor apprentices through the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGM) program., • If a PGA Apprentice, make steady progress toward completion of PGA membership requirements., • Develop professional expertise through related courses and learning opportunities in golf training, player development, management, and accounting., • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills., • Self-motivated with a desire to promote and market., • Service and customer-focused attitude., • Experienced in written and oral business communications., • Remain up to date on customer relations management and player development initiatives., • Experienced computer user, including Microsoft Word and Excel. On May 23, 1924, Congressional Country Club opened its doors to more than 7,000 persons of national and local prominence invited to the Gala Opening. The Club began as a place for businessmen and members of Congress to socialize, but has been transformed into of a family club with excellent facilities for golf, tennis, swimming, bowling, and dining. Congressional now stands as the number one Platinum Club in the Nation Congressional has a rich tradition of championship golf. The Club hosted the US Open in 1964, 1997, and 2011, and the 1976 PGA Championship. In September of 2018, Congressional partnered with the PGA of America, bringing Major Championships back to Congressional. In addition to representing America for the 2037 Ryder Cup, Congressional will host five Major Championships and two National Championships over the next two decades. The Blue Course underwent a full renovation beginning in October 2019 and reopened on June 10, 2021. The Club selected Course Architect Andrew Green, whose portfolio includes renovation projects at Top 100 courses, Inverness Golf Club in Toledo, Ohio, and Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York. The "New" Blue Course is a classic design that provides challenge and enjoyment to golfers of all skill levels. The Club will be opening a world-class Performance Center in the summer of 2022.
