Job DescriptionSalary: $20.00-$25.00/hr, DOE Job Summary • Role:Low Voltage Technician specializing in large-scale industrial environments like distribution centers., • Primary Function:To install, maintain, and troubleshoot low voltage cabling infrastructure for systems such as data networks, security, and audio/visual equipment., • Key Activities:Cable pulling (fiber and copper), route preparation (j-hooks, pathways), termination, testing, and system documentation in environments with high ceilings, often requiring lift operation. Key Responsibilities • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to plan and execute installations., • Safely and efficiently pull, route, and dress both copper and fiber optic cables through high-ceiling environments like large distribution centers., • Operate aerial lifts, scissor lifts, and other equipment to access high-level cabling pathways., • Install cable management hardware such as j-hooks, cable trays, and racks., • Terminate cables (e.g., Cat6) and patch them into equipment like switches and patch panels., • Perform comprehensive testing on copper and fiber optic installations to ensure performance and troubleshoot any issues., • Adhere strictly to job site safety protocols, including OSHA regulations and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)., • Label all cables according to the cable schedule and project specifications., • Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment cart., • Communicate effectively with project managers, site supervisors, and other team members regarding job status, delays, and requirements., • Complete all necessary project documentation and paperwork., • Perform preventative maintenance on existing systems as needed. Qualifications and Skills • High school diploma or equivalent required., • Proven experience as a low voltage technician or similar role, with a focus on structured cabling installations., • Specific experience working in large industrial or distribution center environments is preferred., • Proficiency in operating aerial and scissor lifts in a safe and responsible manner., • Experience with preparing and installing cable support hardware like j-hooks., • Familiarity with various types of low voltage cabling, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders., • Knowledge of testing and troubleshooting techniques for structured cabling systems., • Strong safety consciousness and understanding of relevant safety codes., • Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform the physical demands of the job., • Good communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills., • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Schedule • Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
