HIL/SIL Technical Specialist Location: Sterling Heights, MI Position Overview The HIL/SIL Technical Specialist will be responsible for the development, integration, and maintenance of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) test systems supporting advanced vehicle programs. This role focuses on real-time simulation, signal conditioning, test automation, and system-level validation of embedded hardware and software. The position requires strong electrical engineering fundamentals, experience with embedded systems, and hands-on integration and testing expertise across complex military vehicle architectures. Key Responsibilities HIL/SIL System Development • Develop and maintain HIL/SIL test systems, • Simulate synthetic driving environments (terrain, weather, lighting, position, obstacles, etc.), • Implement real-time physics-based plant simulations, • Design and support signal conditioning and fault injection capabilities, • Develop and support test automation executables, • Configure and support data acquisition (DAQ) systems for:, • CAN, • Ethernet, • MIL-STD-1553, • RS-422, • SSI, • Discrete analog and digital signals, • Integrate and support third-party tools Electrical / Electronic Engineering Digital Circuit Design • Signal conditioning, • Encoders and counters, • Sinking/sourcing I/O, • Impedance matching, • A/D and D/A systems, • Digital filters (IIR, LP, HP, BP), • Control logic design, • Power design, • Optical and galvanic isolation Analog Circuit Design, • Analog signal conditioning, • Filter design and response, • Nyquist sampling theory, • Alias mitigation, • Resolver circuits, • LVDT circuits, • Thermocouple circuits Serial Interface Design, • RS232, • RS422/485, • CAN, • MIL-STD-1553B, • Ethernet, • SPI, • I2C, • SSI, • Transceivers FPGA Development, • Sensor emulation, • Digital filters, • Serial devices, • High-speed logic control Microcontrollers, • Custom embedded microcontroller applications Power Systems, • AC/DC circuits, • Circuit protection, • 3VDC, 5VDC, 28VDC, • 120VAC and 240VAC systems, • High-voltage knowledge Signal Analysis, • Frequency and duty cycle measurement, • Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), • Noise analysis, • Filter performance evaluation Cable & Harness Design, • Wire selection, sizing, and thermal analysis, • Shielding, grounding, and EMI mitigation, • Military connector knowledge, • Cable fabrication (soldering, crimping, strain relief, etc.), • Signal propagation and RLC analysis, • Trunk and stub length analysis Electrical Documentation, • Single-line diagrams, • Electrical layout drawings, • Cable drawings, • Schematics Network Systems, • Ethernet network architecture, • CAN bus design and analysis, • MIL-STD-1553B systems, • Serial networks, • Video interfaces (RS170, SDI, HDMI, DVI, VGA), • Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) Military Vehicle Knowledge, • Power systems integration, • Mobility systems, • Survivability systems, • Lethality systems Required Tools Experience, • MATLAB / Simulink, • NI LabVIEW, • NI VeriStand, • Xilinx Vivado, • Microsoft Excel, • Microsoft Visio, • Wireshark, • Vector CANoe, • Protocol analyzers / MOXA tools Position Requirements, • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (required), • Minor in Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred, • 10+ years of full lifecycle experience in:, • Military systems, • Civil avionics systems, • Automotive systems, • Experience with embedded electronics architecture, • Experience testing embedded software, • Experience developing test applications (VeriStand, CANoe, Simulink, TestStand, or equivalent), • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, • Knowledge of HIL systems, signal conditioning, simulation, and DAQ, • Familiarity with PCAP, PTP, and PRP standards, • Knowledge of safety standards (e.g., MIL-STD-882E, ISO 26262, FACE), • Experience with RTOS and partitioned operating systems, • Experience with high-bandwidth networks (AFDX, PCIe, Ethernet, TSN) NO SUBCONTRACT REQUIREMENT: No third-party applicants will be considered.
