EFFC recognizes that all children in care have experienced some level of trauma, that their needs may change over time, and that their strengths must be supported so they can reach their full potential. POSITION SUMMARY: The Birth Parent Advocate will provide advocacy, support, and referral services for birth parents whose children are in foster care. The Parent Advocate helps the parent understand and navigate the foster care system, make decisions for their families, remain hopeful, and address family challenges so that they can accomplish their goal of reunification. The focus of this job is building connections with parents and working collaboratively with case planners. Each Parent Advocate will be assigned to a case planning unit and will support parents and bring their experience to the foster care agency decision-making process so that children safely return home. Parent Advocates with their own personal prior lived experience of the child welfare system will be effective in informing and supporting parents with children in foster care and help to improve outcomes for children and families. The Registered Nurse will make weekly visits to residences in Forest Hills, Astoria, and East Harlem and will collaborate with managerial and direct support professionals in those locations. Job Description The Unaccompanied Children Program provides long term and transitional residential care and other supportive services to Unaccompanied Children (UC) who are under legal custody of the Federal Government. Working in collaboration with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, ORR, our program provides a safe and nurturing environment for youth in a Basic Shelter program located at our licensed residential facilities as well as a Transitional Foster Care program in foster homes in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Westchester. In all programs, we provide therapeutic, medical and educational services, as well as other supports that youth need to achieve success through an array of strength-based and targeted interventions as we link them with family members and/or other sponsors in the United States. We want all children we support to move forward with their lives and thrive. About the Role The Clinical Supervisor oversees the clinical services of the UC program. We are seeking a Clinical Supervisor with a license to provide clinical services (i.e.: LMHC or LMSW), and we are invested in supporting their continued professional development by providing clinical supervision towards further clinical licensure. What You’ll Do · Oversee all clinical services provided within the day program including individual/group supervision, mental health assessments, crisis intervention and discharge planning. · Provide direct oversight and facilitate individual and group supervision to the clinicians on caseload. · Review and approve clinical notes in MyEvolv to ensure quality and timely service provision. · Ensure comprehensive assessments are conducted using standardized measures as per standards set forth by Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). · Provides temporary coverage for clinicians as needed for individual, group therapy and crisis management. · Participate in monthly staff development for clinical team and stays up to date with effective modalities and therapeutic services. · Track compliance and quality assurance for the clinicians on caseload. · Provide clinical insight and guidance to the clinicians on evidence interventions particularly for cases with mental health and/or psychiatric complexities. · Work closely with the Case Managers Supervisors to ensure a safe reunification process for all minors in care and ensure both Case Management and Clinical teams are working in tandem to thoroughly assess and vet children and sponsors. · Oversee timely and accurate data submission for quarterly reports for the clinicians on caseload. · Maintain regular communication with and coordination of services with other members of the multidisciplinary team and stakeholders as needed (ORR, GDIT, LSP, Young Center). · Attend weekly staffing with ORR and GDIT to be up to date with all cases and provide clinical support and guidance to the team as needed. · Conduct outreach and connection to secure additional mental health resources in the community to strengthen and provide external services to the community when needed for specific cases. · Along with the Prevention of Sexual Abuse (PSA) coordinator reinforces the Zero Tolerance Policy, ongoing psychoeducation and ensure a safe environment for all children in care. · Ensure that Child Level Events are thorough and are submitted on a timely manner according to ORR standards. Maintain timely and ongoing communication with ORR DHUC for complex cases and clinical recommendations. · Participate in treatment team meetings and other meetings pertaining to the needs of the children in care. · Complete internal audits to ensure that the clinical records meet the requirements of standards set by OCFS and ORR. · Assist in facilitating training and shadowing for new clinicians. · Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and protected information according to HIPAA standards. · Integrate a collaborative approach with all different departments in the program to ensure clear communication, quality service provision and teamwork to meet the needs of the children in care. · Demonstrate commitment to departmental and organizational goals. · During times of influx, the lead clinician could be temporarily assigned a small caseload if needed to support the program. · Assumption of other duties as assigned.
