Epsilon Systems is seeking a full-time Electrical Foreman in the SRS division located in Portsmouth, VA Summary: Supervise/manage workers who modify, repair, install shipboard electrical systems/components. Train, oversee and mentor lower level trades and helpers to improve their technical skill making them eligible for advancement. Duties and Responsibilities: \n • Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel.\n, • Monitors employees' work levels and reviews work performance.\n, • Monitors tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shops to ensure adequate working conditions.\n, • Investigates accidents and injuries, and prepares reports of findings.\n, • Compiles operational and personnel records, such as time and production records, inventory data, repair and maintenance statistics, and test results.\n, • Develops, implements, and evaluates maintenance policies and procedures.\n, • Counsels employees about work-related issues and assists employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.\n, • Responsible for ensuring employees charge to correct project number(s).\n, • Examines objects, systems, or facilities, and analyzes information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.\n, • Conducts or arranges for worker training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.\n, • Uses applicable electrical measuring instruments i.e., meters, ammeters, meggers, etc.\n, • Reads and understands blueprints, technical manuals and repair standards.\n, • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical control systems.\n, • Assembles, installs, tests, and maintains electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.\n, • Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.\n, • Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.\n, • Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.\n, • Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.\n, • Installs ground leads and connects power cables to equipment, such as motors.\n, • Works from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures\n, • Plans, assigns, schedules, and supervises the work of skilled and trades helper subordinates on various shipboard system repair and installation projects.\n, • Prepares cost estimates of labor and material; orders supplies, material, and equipment.\n, • Prepares routine work and time reports and maintains standard records.\n, • Recruits and trains subordinate personnel; establishes safety and work performance standards.\n, • High school diploma or GED\n, • 12 years shipboard electrical experience.\n, • Minimum five years supervisory experience in marine and industrial environment (ship repair and modernization).\n, • Able to write clear, concise reports.\n, • Able to supervise all other trades.\n, • Ability to obtain access to military/government installations worldwide.\n, • Able to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms (onboard ships).\n, • Able to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs in weight.\n, • Able to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.\n, • Able to perceive and distinguish normal range of colors.\n\n Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
