About the Role Responsible for supervising the Quality Technician team across two shifts in their daily tasks and responsibilities. Leading the QA Team with Food Safety- and Safety-First Mindset. Back up to Quality Manager. Responsibilities • Ensure that QA Techs are following Standard Operating Procedures., • Responsible for all Food Safety and Safety Compliance, within the team and in the facility., • Ensure that QA Techs are trained when changes occur concerning Quality Assurance or Production Procedures., • Work with the QA and R&D Leadership to ensure that the Quality Team is enforcing the best practices on the Production Floor., • Work with Managers and Supervisors to refine current and introduce new QA Procedures., • Assess customer complaints concerning possible finished product production issues., • Collect data on finished product when an investigation dictates and ensure findings are evaluated by Quality Manager., • Oversee and ensure that proper documents for plant trials and or new product implementation are created - picture spec, weight, torque, temperature etc., • Learn, teach, and enforce SQF Policies and procedures throughout the facility fostering an environment where food safety is paramount., • Point of contact for third party laboratories., • Ensures QA laboratory equipment meets calibration requirements., • Ensure that all employees of the company are practicing work safety utilizing the required personal protective equipment and safe workplace practices and awareness., • Report and follow up on food safety and food quality concerns., • Ensure all QA sheets and Operational documents are maintained and updated., • Prepare, perform, and document personnel training to ensure personnel have the appropriate training and understanding of QA systems., • Back up coverage for Quality Systems Manager, QA lead, or QA Technicians., • Complete Certificate of Analysis., • Document and verify HACCP records to include cooler/freezer records, batching sheets, weight sheets, torque sheets., • Monitor production retains, ensure received and logged in system, review disposition of expired material., • Assign duties and monitor quality of work, assure staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations., • Keep up to date on all overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective action., • Supports Research and Development during plant trials and or customer visits., • Manages area KPI’s and leads efforts for continuous improvement., • 30% production floor presence, 80% administrative duties. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in microbiology / food science or related field or equivalent., • HACCP Certified, SQF Practitioner, PCQI is a plus.
